Ravan's being very picky also?? My go to cat food---- Halo -Turkey & Duck Pate Carbs 5% Phos. 201-----Whole Earth Farms -Real Duck Carbs 4% Phos. 130 or Real Chicken Carbs 10% Phos 182 He was eating Weruva-Cats in the Kitchen-- Fowl Ball ---Carbs 4% Phos. 180. ( now he won't eat it!)

Today I finally got him to eat some Raw beef that I "minced" into tiny pieces & warmed it up for a min. ( Oh, the things we do for our Kitties!) They have us trained. We are merely their slaves.:cat:

Hi,

You may want to purchase Tanya’s CKD Cat Food Data book so that you are able to look at the options more easily and pick a few out to try. They are listed in order from lowest to highest Ph content but also list the protein, carbs, etc as well. I just looked on Amazon and it’s unavailable there but directs you to another seller. Barnes and Nobles also has it:

@Bellasmom Tanya site is more up to date. She is in process of updating this month. I get impressions it's updated every Feb.

Check my food tab on ss. I've been putting the info on the foods I try. And I kept copies of the emails they sent. Since I can't remember what they like or if I tried a food already.

Waiting to hear on Proplan Focus urinary food. I suspect it's higher than the food charts info.

I canceled order, thanks for letting me know they are updating

We feed the Tiki cat dark series and then the Soulistic Chicken Pate ( phos 150 and under ) . I had tried the Halo Rabbit which was but he didn't like the texture. The Koha limited ingredient is our next try I think, but he does like the Soulistic and the Tiki Cat cubes up nicely in the freezer with all the moisture in the cans- he gets the Tiki mousse in the packets occasionally as a treat now.

Foods are tough. Finding low phos , low carb and no seafood has been quite a journey

May stop and get some soulistic. Are they not supposed to have fish. Bella had been eating mackerel and lamb?????

Dr Pierson now does As Fed.

Tanya site does DMB.

Both are pretty close together. Never got a straight answer when I asked which to follow. I ask for both methods when I ask companies.

I can't get Soulistic here. Whole Earth is higher in both now, so I don't use that. Fish I think should be limited as per others due to mercury but I don't know for sure. In past I had cats allergic to fish so I never give if in title.

Can't get tiki after dark either or the mousee. My cats only seem to like pate.

The Soulistic is good- he was wanting pate and it was hard to find a " clean" one. Make sure it's chicken and not the chicken and turkey- that one is higher in phos

I don't give my guy fish because of some of the additives and preservatives they put in tuna/salmon/tilapia (mostly in the U.S). I wouldn't worry about the Ziwipeak if that's what you are feeding- those ingredients are more directly and organically sourced as that company works directly with farmers.
Plus the fish dishes seem to cause some allergies in him, so now we try to stick to poultry and rabbit. Tiki cat did have this one flavor- Manana grill- tuna and prawns...god he loves that so much and it was zero carb with very low phos but he was sneezing for a full week afterwards. He might just be more seafood sensitive though- who knows.

None of mine like Stella. I'm thinking of going back to making food. So far none here will eat chicken or beef we cook, so don't know if making will work.

Just a note-the book has updates as recent as 1/26/20 so it’s not old data. It would also help you sort the food much more easily & then once you find specific foods to try you can always cross check to make sure values haven’t change much when there are updates.

Again, once you find specific foods to try then you can use data to put into a calculator to determine the nutrients per 100kcal basis. Dry matter isn’t the best way to determine the nutrients because ultimately you need to also figure out the nutrients per calories once you have the dry matter basis. Then one should be figuring out the ideal amount of calories your cat should be eating based on what their weight should be which is based on their body condition score. Each food is going to have a different amount of calories so ultimately you have to figure out the nutrients based on kcal vs just dry matter. I’m providing a link to the Tufts Calculator which also does a nice job of explaining why determining nutrients this way is important.
