Bash is doing pretty good post dental (recap - no extractions, but bad gingivitis). He went really low in BG's last night and I had to keep giving him LC mixed with HC in small amounts every hour for like 7 hours to keep him from dipping too low. Then he seriously bounced this morning and did major RBC. Up above 350 all day long. He seemed okay, other than a little tired today. I am sure his mouth is sore on top of the RBC.
He's eating and drinking okay though. All the P's.
Advice needed on the amoxycillan. They gave it to me in liquid form and it's a pretty big amount in the syringe thing. He REALLY REALLY REALLY hates it and I feel like I'm torturing him. It causes him to have this foamy, dripping saliva thing like a St. Bernard for about 20 mins. I called the vet and they said that was pretty normal, that they didn't really like it and that it caused a lot of excess saliva. Anyone have any tips on how to do this so he doesn't make it look like I'm torturing him? I currently squeeze it in smallish amounts towards his back teeth. He shakes it all over, it makes a big mess and I'm wondering how much he's ingesting versus dripping out. He even hissed at me tonight and he's a pretty mellow guy. I don't know if there are other ways to do it that maybe would work better? I don't want to just squirt it down the back of his throat and make him possibly choke, so not sure if there's any other way or I just have to bite the bullet for two weeks and ride it out.
p.s. someone asked about the glocusamine stuff and it's cosequin? I haven't started that yet, but will tomorrow.
