Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night, ate all his nighttime food, woke us up early--at 5:30 (our plower was here plowing the driveway, and that must have set him thinking that it was time to get up). But he settled down and we all got our 45 minutes of extra sleep. It's still snowing and very cold and windy. Rusty is lounging on top of the radiator. Beans are getting ready to go to a meeting of our mountain club's outings committee to plan the next quarter's schedule of activities. It is hard to contemplate canoe trips or bicycle trips in the current weather!

Great Rusty report...so smart spending the day on the radiator, Rusty, while your beans actually go outside. I know, they're crazy, aren't they :smuggrin::smuggrin::joyful:?

I've been spending a lot of time daydreaming about warm-weather activities...it's helping me get through this arctic blast we're having here. Planing canoe trips and bike excursions sounds like fun! Enjoy your day, Ella!
 
Hi everyone,
The 41 Rusty had yesterday afternoon was the third number under 50 on this dose. I wasn't going to decrease because he has been doing well for quite a long time on the present dose (.75 U). But after reviewing today's numbers I decided to take his dose down a drop to a skinny .75 (1.12mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe).
Rusty had a good day and ate all his fuds. At snack time, however, I decided--finally--to try the ZiwiPeak rabbit & lamb on him to see if he had an allergic reaction to the green mussel. I gave him a teaspoonful. He was interested and began to eat, but stopped shortly thereafter and went back to his nap. Tomorrow I'll try again at a different time of day. In any event, he didn't get sick. I'm not sure that he likes lamb. He got 4 Orijen lamb treats today and left 2 in the dish (on the other hand, he really likes the wild boar treats).

It was fun planning for the next quarter (April-June) of our club outings. Paddles, bike rides, hikes (in boots--no snowshoes!). Today was a bright, sunny winter day. And with all that sunshine the temperature only got up to about +2 (and it was incredibly windy). Tomorrow we're supposed to have an isolated warmer day. Edward and I may go snowshoeing on easy trails. (The bushwhack I missed the other day was so challenging that they only got to the summit of a smaller mountain--not the one they had planned to climb. There was so much snow that, even in snowshoes, they were up to their thighs in snow. The "easy" hike took 6 hours! I could not have done that with my leg in it's present shape!!

Rusty had a great day- good move with the decrease- he has earned it! Good Luck with the new fuds, it has been interesting watching your food trials. I bet that was great to plan and dream of summer trip to come- that and beautiful sunny(albeit frigid temps) make winter tolerable where I grew up in Eastern Washington. have a great night Ella= stay warm!

Good luck getting out on the trails tomorrow. Seems to me you haven't done as much snowshoeing as previous years. Our snow has been mostly a no show and the local cross country ski trails remain closed.:(
 
Rusty. Reducie. Congrats.

I sorta miss those cold, brisk, but full sun days of Wisconsin. No complaints about the 50-60 range we get here in the high desert, though. Snow coming in this weekend. We need the moisture something fierce. I'll have to find my jacket!

Nice day in the lagoon, doing his job. Congrats on the reducie.

I hope you get your snowshoe trek in tomorrow. I'm a real novice, but I really enjoy snowshoeing. Very exhilarating and a little less scary for chicken sh!# me than cross country skiing! :p
