Yesterday recap:
AMPS 359
(BW results discussed at length w/vet, no day tests for Ripley)
PMPS 174
+2 241
+3 enema #3, some poo
+4 194
+6 168
+11.75, some more poo

Good morning! Thank you for the late-night/early-morning visits, Courtney, Dale, Ann, Kat, and Sienne!

Ripley poo'd again this morning, about the same amt. as last night, post-enema (2 good-sized cylinders, but rather hard).
I will take her in to the vet this afternoon for a quick exam; he'll be able to tell if she's still backed up & whether x-rays/vet enema/etc. are necessary.

With her b'fast, I gave her about 1/2 T squash and 1/4t. Miralax. (all mixed in w/her food.)

Last night she seemed lethargic again. I slept with her on the couch ~ it was nice to be by her side.
This morning she acted more normal: talkative, hungry, wanted tub water.

Thank you, all, for your support and advice.
Happy Wednesday!
~Josie

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

I don't know if you saw what I posted this morning in your condo from yesterday.

I disagree. Too much of anything is not a good idea. The max dose of Miralax I've seen discussed is 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. I'll do some checking around but I would discuss giving any more than that with your vet.

Frankly, if 3 enemas plus a laxative aren't working, you need to be talking to your vet. There could be motility or other issues that are contributing to Ripley's constipation. Please discuss the possibility of megacolon with your vet. This is a motility problem that causes constipation and a laxative may be a bad idea.

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

Good Morning Josie & Ripley,

Good luck at the vetty today. We are sending many vines for a good examination and for good, normal poop. Sorry to have missed your condo for a few days and sorry that you have been going through tough times. Fingers and paws crossed that it will all turn around today.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

Good morning Sienne -- I saw your post, but it was after I had already fed R. her food w/M'lax. The vet mentioned megacolon as a possiblilty. I'm thinking of okaying the x-rays, just to see if that's what's going on (or to rule it out). I honestly don't know much about MC, but I've seen it mentioned on various condos here.

Hello, Ella -- Thank you for the positive thoughts! We are crossing our fingers and paws, too, for a solution to Ripley's 'hardships.'

CPC today!
...and she just sneaked some of Marley-dog's kibble. :-x . She's up to her old antics -- a good sign that she's felling a little better, I hope...

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

I'm glad there are signs that she's feeling better!!

I checked with Jill and you're OK on the 1/2 teas. of Miralax. Personally, I'd want to get x-rays. It will let you know if there's an obstruction (e.g., some more of that hard feces) that's keeping Ripley blocked.

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

I'm glad to hear Ripley did leave you a few prezzies, and sending many vines that all goes well with today's vetty visit!!

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

Morning Josie, glad that Ripley poo'd for you and sending vines today for Vetty visit. Nothing was working for Maggie and X-rays showed she had Megacolon. I hope that's not the case for Ripley, but would be good to rule it out if it isn't Megacolon, and if it is, there is treatment for it. Hugs for you and scritches for Ripley.

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

Hi Josie. Not too high of a yellow for Ripley today all things considered..poor girl; 3 enemas. I'm glad she made a deposit to her account at the Bank of LB, even if it was a small one. I hope her vet visit diagnoses her problem and it's something that can be addressed without long term treatment. We will keep Ripley in our Prayers.

Have a good day Josie.

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221

Sending good vetty vines your way. I hope they can figure it out so Ripley can get back to good health soon!

2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

Thank you for the positive thoughts, Melissa, Amy, Ann, John, and Tara! We appreciate all the vines!

Ripley's currently at the vet, getting a professional enema.
Her X-ray showed some bulky poo, but not as much as we thought there would be; also, no sign of megacolon.

I had the choice of either doing another enema at home, or leave her with the vet for a 'stronger' enema. I opted for the vet performing it. He uses more fluids than I have at home, plus a stronger solution than what is in the Pet-ema. There are no guarantees that this will produce anything. But I feel better that she's getting a little more help; a 4th enema at home with no results would break my heart.

I had an incredibly hard time leaving her there; I'm picking her up in about an hour, but it felt weird leaving the office w/o her. I hope hope hope it works.

While I was at work, there was no sign of LB usage. Also, she was sleeping in the exact same position on the couch as when I left her this morning. (Before I left, I put a little blankie over her & tucked her in; she was still tucked in under that blankie when I got home from work. Sleepy girl.)

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

Detective Poo here, checking in on Ripley and sending my best poo vines. Lets get things moving, Ripley!
Liz

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

Sending fresh new poo vines your way! I'm sure Ripley will be very happy to be back home!

ETA....great news about the megacolon!!

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

Hi Josie

Hope the "pro" enema is super helpful, great news it's not MC....

Kibble raid and a day in bed... ;-)
I've often come home after hours out to find a "still life"... not one kitty budged. Groundhog Day

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

Hi Josie, I'm so happy Ripley doesn't have Megacolon. I think that was a good idea to leave her there and have the Vet do the enema. They can monitor and give her the fluids she needs. She will be so glad to get home and will feel better.

Re: 2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, xray+another enema

I'm glad the x-rays ruled anything problematic out. Now, if Ripley would just get rid of that extra bulk!

2/20 Ripley AMPS 221, +8.5 192, all cleared out!

Thank you soooo much Liz, Amy, Bruce, Ann, and Sienne!
I love the power of LL!

SHE PASSED HER POO! :RAHCAT

Poor girl looks like she's been through the ringer.
BUT now we can start fresh and new w/Miralax, squash or pumpkin, and anything else I can do do keep her regular.

She's giving herself the bath of a lifetime right now.
(Well, there was that time she got sprayed by a skunk and WE had to give her the bath of a lifetime...)

Soon she's going to get her insulin + food, and hopefully her fluids -- I'm going to see a play tonight, so she may get her fluids later tonight if I'm unable to give them before I leave. I feel bad about leaving her for several hours, but DH will be home, and I'm sure Ripley will be resting anyway.

I keep breathing HUGE sighs of relief.
Thank you for all of your positive thoughts! We felt them today!

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

I am so happy to read the ALL CLEAR message. And not MC, yeah! Enjoy the play tonight, now you'll be able to relax and watch without worry.

2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

Amy -- Wahooooooo is right! Thank you! I'm planning on the rest of my evening being stress-free (and a couple of glasses of wine are in order)!

Liz -- It's nice to be able to please the Detective! Thank you!

Sienne -- I bet she did -- until a moment ago when I stuck her subq needle in her. The look she gave me was "Now what?!?"

Wendy -- Thank you so much! 'Worry-free' is a much-appreciated feeling.

Now that's done, I can focus on not only keeping her constipation-free, but also back to regulating those BGs... I'm hoping to start using more of these soon:  .

Enjoy your evening! Hugs to you all! :YMHUG:

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

Oh, Josie - What a day you and Ripley have had!! So glad you had the X-rays done and no signs of megacolon AND she's all cleaned out - what a relief for both of you!!!

Have a great night -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

What a day! I'm so glad the vet was successful, and no megacolon is wonderful! Poor Ripley, what a trooper she is.

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

Glad Ripley is doing much better and not carrying that extra bulk. Great report of no megacolon. Hope she gets to the green numbers.

Have a great evening.

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

wooo! pooo! Have fun at the play - I'm sure Ripley will catch up on her rest and be back to her old self in no time!

Re: 2/20 Ripley PMPS 239, all cleared out!

omg Rhiannon --- I was just thinking we need a poo icon

I'm so happy to hear Ripley is nice and regular. Celebrating a good clean out is nothing to poo-poo at ;-)

Hi, Libby -- A relief indeed! --But different forms of relief for her & I.

Anne -- thank you -- we feel Ripley deserves a medal for what she's gone through this week. Or maybe a crown. Nah, she's happy with some extra treats.

Rhiannon -- I feel so lucky to have a dancing poo on my condo! And what a well-earned dancing poo it is.

John -- Thanks. She actually looks like she's lost a little weight. Crazy how that sneaks up/builds up.

Tara -- Ripley greeted me at the door squawking her little heart out at me, just like old times. I think she was welcoming me home; but she was probably yelling at me for everything we've put her through lately.

Marje -- I agree! Although, I think I 'd much rather have her poo the ol' fashioned way (w/o the enemas).

Courtney -- Keep squeezing out those poo puns! We gotta keep laughing  ! (It's the best medicine).

... aaand a 161 at +4? I'll take it, thank you very much. She is a trooper. And she's still squawking at me, probably using every expletive she knows  .
