Neko is celebrating yesterday's reduction with some quality time in the pinks. ohmygod_smile

PMPS 212 +3 374

Exactly one year today, Neko started on Lantus after 2 months on Caninsulin. What a difference a year and better insulin makes!!! Caninsulin wasn't lasting and she was starving for two hours before meals. Of course, I started testing when she went on Lantus, so my fear level went down too. Other than partying in pink today, Neko has had a couple of trips outside in the rain, done lots of grooming, done a little quality time with her nanners, and plenty of sleeping. :-D

I'm back to doing most of the shots. I've taken off the splint and am just using a sling for my arm. It's nice to be able to occasionally do some shoulder motions. But I'm still mostly as useful as the proverbial one armed paper hanger. Our rowing coach sent out his reminder message about rowing starting in a couple of weeks. He felt a bit of snow on the water today, so spring rowing is almost under way. :YMSIGH:

Happy Lantus Annifursary! That's great to look back and see how much better Neko is now. :-D :-D :-D More healing vines for you. Are you getting PT? Anne wants to know.

Hi Wendy & Neko,

Neko, you earned this new dose, so get with the program!!

Wendy, you'll be out on the water soon enough, so don't push it  (But I know you'll be climbing the walls, just as I would!) In the meantime, get in lots of walking, and riding on a stationary bike. Can you tie the chain of your rowing machine to something around your waist? At least that way you could get the rowing leg-motion workout. I'm sure your coach will have lots of ideas.

Have a fine evening, and thanks for visiting Rusty and me,

Hugs, and healing vines to YOU!

@Liz - I have to wait 2 weeks after the injury to see the orthopaedic surgeon, have X rays and make sure things are healing, then do PT. The emerg doctor said I should start with some simple exercises and I've been doing almost everything I can, except when it hurts. I mostly can't straighten out the arm. I haven't tried lifting Neko weight yet either.

Like Ella said, don't overdo it, but that's got to be so annoying to be limited in what you an do.

I hope Neko settles into the new dose soon. It's bittersweet to say Happy Anniversary, but it's great to look back and see how far our kitties have come. I don't know where I'd be without all the help in LL.

Re: 2/20 Neko AMPS 295 +4 348 +9 362

@Ella - we posted at the same time. I can definitely do walking, although I'm going to be nervous about slippery trails so will probably stick to the even stuff for now. After the 2 week all clear I can definitely do something like the elliptical or bike. At this point just working on aerobics should be enough. I haven't told my coach yet - he'll probably laugh. Neko has taught me patience, she loves to bounce.

PMPS 375
A mostly flat pink day. I'm hoping she'll chose another floor this evening. I did all the tests today. It's OK except when Neko figures she's done and it's time for treats. She gets impatient when I'm compressing the poke site. I have to hold her down and compress at the same time.

@Carla - you are so right about LL. After starting Lantus I lurked for a week before joining. I did all the same rookie mistakes everyone else does too. In spite of that, Neko is doing so much better. Now I just have to wait for Neko to stop bouncing.

Hi Wendy... you ol one armed paper hanger you!!  We use that saying around here all the time. Please be careful with your elbow. I'm sure PT will help with straightening ... that can take a bit, so be patient... Neko taught you patience
Come one Neko sweetie, work that jooz!!!! hugs and scritches to you from us. have a good night xoxo mary and ollie

Hey, Wendy -

Been thinking of you today, hoping you well on your way to healing, just haven't had a chance to get by until now. I know you want to get at the rowing, but you have to give yourself time to heal. It's good that you're able to do exercises with that arm. shhh, don't tell Doug, he'd be jealous.

Sweet Neko, partying in her pink dress. :-D You're beautiful, but this season all of the fashionable gals are wearing blues and greens, so hurry and get changed! Happy Lantus annifursary! Yes, ma'am, what a difference a year makes!!

Have a great night -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Sigh, she's really attached to that pink dress today. Grooming away on a blue chair now, played with a blue nanner after dinner, but so far she's colour blind. Ah well, an early night for me.

@Mary - the 1 armed paper hanger just seems so appropriate right now. It would be better if I wasn't right handed. Oh well, I'm typing with the right in a sling so can do some stuff. I'll tell her Ollie says to work the jooz and if she comes over here I'll show her his condo as an example.

@Libby - exercises are currently not weight bearing, just moving the wrist up and down to flex the arm muscle. Rotations are still a pain. Rowing in March can be truly miserable; choppy water in the dark, sometimes with rain. I do want to be on the water, but missing those conditions at 5:30 AM isn't the worst thing. ;-) Seriously hoping Neko does a colour change overnight. cat(2)_steam
