So when you look at his #'s from last night, what should i have done differently? Just dosed at the regular +12? Would that have kept him from bouncing? Or is the bounce just because of the insulin increase?

You really can't prevent a bounce. It's Gizzy's body's reaction to the low numbers. It's just a process of time -- her body needs to get used to being in low numbers again. Some cats go through this very quickly and it takes others much longer.

Question:
If the 169 was at +14.5, when were the preceding tests -- the ones at 158 and 121? If they were at +10 and +11, then your SS is accurate. If not, you need to put in what times they were. Take a look at Gabby's SS for one method of annotating time. (You will need to manually change the color of the cells.)

One housekeeping item: Please remember to link your SS from the previous day -- viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37167

one thing you can do if you have a lower preshot that you're not comfortable is to test again sooner. Don't wait until +14 to retest, test often so you can catch the rise as soon as it starts. Eventually you will be comfortable shooting lower numbers, and even dropping numbers, but it is definitely a process to work your way toward that.

Have you read my Dealing With Low Preshots post?

Sienne is right, though. The bounce would have happened anyway. Getting the insulin in earlier might have helped keep it from going quite as high, but she still would have bounced somewhat. You'll get there, we all had to go through this process.

Cheryl, unbelievable that we got this much snow again!! UGH!
Luckily we sold our house in early December so we are renting an apartment now until we find our new home! No shoveling or snowblowing for us - couldn't have picked a better winter to be renting! ha ha
