Good job Sharon! You are a pro at the low numbers now. Nice to know she'll come up with LC.

A question for you, have you ever checked to see how many drops are in that .1U dose? If not, get a used needle and fill it will colored liquid (apple juice, tea, etc), point the needle up, and turn the plunger a little bit until you get a drop forming. Try to see how many of these drops you are getting with the .1U dose. Tabitha got low today, but overall her numbers look like she might need a tiny bit more of insulin support. I'm just wondering if there's a way to get a smaller dose consistently. If you know the number of drops, maybe you could do half of them. We've had people give 1 drop doses if needed. The other option is to push the plunger really hard, insert into the vial/pen and release the plunger. That little bit of insulin that gets in might be a smaller dose.

What do you mean by tiny bit more insulin support. Is Tabitha needing more? BUt it then sounds like she needs less?

Also should I go ahead and wait an hour and test +5.5 or do the 30 minute interval @ +5

No she didn't mean MORE insulin

Since .1 is already a tiny dose, but Tabitha is still so new, she's suggesting an even smaller dose....less than .1 but that can be hard to measure (to help continue to "support" her pancreas just a little longer)

Once they're above high 60's to 70's, you can slow down the testing some but you want to keep testing for at least 2 hours after the last time they get any type of food to make sure they stay up

Again had to wait on Tabitha to eat +7. 96. She has been a very good girl today

Do I need to test again before PMPS? I could take a nap and the practice loading a .05. :banghead: That OTJ is so close I can taste it.:woot:

Oh Tabitha! Lookin' GOOD!

How about one more test then a nap just to be sure she stays up. Oh I agree - I can just smell that OTJ! GOOD JOB!

HUGS and DANCES!

What Chris said! We've had some kitties go from a .1U dose to a one drop dose, if that is less insulin. Depends on how people do that .1U dose. That 47 today means that .1U is too much for Tabitha. Zero seems to be not enough. Another option (that Marje reminded me of) is to feed Tabitha slightly higher carb food. For example, if you are feeding 3-5% now, try something 6-8%. That might just be enough to keep her from dropping so much and still keep her on insulin for a tiny bit longer.

@Chris & China
I'm just anxious for her to be off. I know it is what it is and we will work though it. I still have responsibilities at work. When I am on a mission I take the bull by the horns and put 101% into it. There is no one else but me to help Tabitha. She is laying on me again grooming. I can't wait to take her back to the vet to see the transformation. The vet wanted to due a curve after the first week.:D

I would give her the same amount and test in 30. If she's up, you can back off the food and give her a little break on the testing.

You could always go with something higher in carbs so you could (hopefully) get some sleep sometime tonight

I think Tabitha may be just about done with this dance!

Darn...she should be coming up now.

I hate to leave you again but I'm falling asleep in between Tabitha's tests. Haha.you know what I'm going to say....just keep doing this until she comes up. If you get her into the 60s, try not to feed, give her an hour and see if she's up.

She really has nothing left to prove tonight, so if you want to give her something higher in carb, I don't see any reason why you can't

You might want to try the "Push the plunger hard and hold it and then insert into the vial/pen and release" method and see if it gives you a smaller dose than the .1 you tried today

You won't "waste" hardly any, and it's one way to see if you can get a smaller dose. You can pull the .1 you did today and squirt it into a paper towel and then try this other way and see if you can notice a difference in the amounts

Come on now Tabitha...it's time to come up now! Mamabean needs some sleep!

you could TRY not feeding more, but with her still that low, you'll still need to keep testing

Why don't you just give her a couple teaspoons of high carb gravy and get her up high enough that you could at least get a 45 minute nap in between tests
