It's been a gloomy Saturday and Michelangelo and Henry have both been sleeping next to the fireplace most of the day. Michelangelo isn't even looking for food right now even though this is a little later than his normal dinner/shot time. Henry also doesn't seem too interested in food. I'm not worried they're sick or anything; they're just being lazy.

I figure I'll wait till Mikey starts looking for food and then test him again (whenever that is) and shoot him if he's a little higher. Otherwise, I'll probably test him again in an hour. Or should I give him his shot now?

For someone who has the data you have, I would shoot and get a +1. Sometimes if you wait, he could keep dropping. Hard to say ....so it's best to get the shot and then food in him and keep yourself on schedule.

Okay, I shot him only about a half hour late. I was already 45 minutes late this morning because I overslept. And then Michelangelo didn't want to have anything to do with the shot and was running around so instead of shooting him while he eats, I ended up shooting him in the middle of the backyard. So, now he's technically 1:15 off from his regular 7/7 schedule.

There's a reason I shoot at 7 instead of 8 because 7 gives me that extra hour to delay shots whereas I would never be able to shoot at 9 because of my work schedule. That means I only need tomorrow to nudge him back down so I won't have to be late to work on Monday. ;-)

If he's high at +11, you can shoot an hour early if you will be there to monitor.

I'm not a big fan of stalling if you have data, Mikey is above 50, you have supplies, and can be home to test. It's a great technique for teaching new members how to shoot lower gradually. But once you have good data and know how he responds to food, if its safe (see above), you are better off to shoot consistently when you can.

I'll definitely remember that in the future. I'm still not too sure what's going on here because this is the first time we've seen good numbers for so long so I think I stalled a little to make sure he really was still going up. I wish he'd just gain a couple of more ounces so I could bump him up to the full 2u because it is SUCH a *****! measuring out 1.88u!

I confess: there may have been a couple of times already I have shot at +11. It's only been when I know his numbers are on their way up, I'll be around to test, and I'm wanting to get him back on schedule from unplanned time delays with previous shots. This whole time I thought I've been "cheating" a little whenever I've done this without mentioning it, especially because it's never negatively changed his numbers or caused any wonkiness. :?

No..you haven't been cheating  it's a much used technique.
