I talked to my vet last night. Strange to me he wasn't concerned about that 49. He thought the numbers looked good but was okay with the decrease from 1.5 to 1.25. Max hasn't been liking his Hairball treats as much lately but I think he needs them as he was trying to throw up a hairball this morning. When I first bought them he loved them even more than his 100% chicken and turkey treats. The Vet's Best Hairball Relief Digestive Aid don't contain sugar or anything bad.

Re: 2/19Max AMPS315

Hi guys .. sorry to hear max hasn't been liking the hairball meds lately .. I think sometimes kitties go all crazy for something new, and then tire of it very quickly! Have a great day guys!

Still bouncing or is the dose not right? I had to drag him out from under the bed and he wasn't sleeping either. He got his treat and now is meowing so I guess he is ready to eat.

So this is interesting. He's lower tonight than he was all day. Tonight might be an active one I am guessing.

i wonder what the carb content of the hairball remedy is. have you contacted the manufacturer and asked? it might be worth putting a note in his ss as to when you're giving it, just to be sure it's not having an effect on Max's BGs.

it looks like max might be clearing a bounce tonight. i think you're right, you might see some lower numbers tonight. looks like he hit the peak of the bounce this morning and has been dropping since then. good observation!

I will call the manufacturer tomorrow. They are in the U.S. I emailed them but will call as well. The ingredients are psyllium seed marshmallow, slippery elm bark, acidophilus, papaya extract, apple powder, brewers yeast, calcium, chicken, liver, magnesium stearate. I usually give him one or two a day. It really helps. I forgot the last few days and he needed it this morning. Thanks, Julie.

yeah, i looked up the ingredients after seeing your first post. i wondered about the apple powder. no idea, really. but i thought it was worth checking into. it wouldn't be the first time someone was giving their cat something that looked innocent but turned out to be raising their BGs.

Re: 2/19Max AMPS315 +5.5=220PMPS198

I looked up appke powder and it is supposed to lower BG among other things. Same thing with papaya extract. Well let's see what the company has to say. Thanks for looking it up.

Well, I think I might need to do a +5, what do you think? i don''t think he starts to go down until at least 3 1/2-4 hours. At least it shouldn't be a big drop.

when i see up at +3, especially when you're talking about the 200's, i'd probably go to bed and not do another test. i think if he were going to come down, you'd be able to see it by +2. he might be not clearing the bounce quite yet, just bobbling around while he's thinking about it. :-D

Thanks Julie. I was doubting myself this morning for not doing another test last night. A rep from Vet's Best responded to my email. There are 0.4 grams carbs in each tablet. I give him 1 or 2 a day.
