Re: 2/19 Willow - Yay Willow!!

Hey, guys! I read through your post from last night, and I'm so, so sorry you were treated so horribly. I swear, some of these vets are just bullies who get their rocks off on being in a position of authority. I was so relieved to see your regular vet was focused on the issue at hand, got a diagnosis and an action plan in place. And such good news that Willow is eating, purring, and hanging out with you again! Fingers and paws crossed here in KC for continued improvement! Hope you guys have a great night!

He's licking the cath sites and one is very raw and bloody and the other is on it's way to being that way. I remember he did this before when they cath'd him and I had to treat with antibiotic ointment because he'd done so much damage to his arms, but don't remember how I finally got him to stop.

The leg thats the most raw had no bandage initially and he ripped the bandage off the other leg during our nap earlier and started licking that. He had also partially gnawed through the bandage when the iv cath was in this morning. So he's eaten through and/or removed two bandages now.

So, I called the ER vet and told him what he was doing and asked for any tips to stop it. They asked why I hadn't taken him to his regular vet today to have him checked and they told me to put a band-aid on it.

Good thing is that he has stopped for the moment in order to sit at the sliding glass door to watch the world outside.

I'm not to familiar with your furkids personality in short, but would you consider one of those new foam neck collars? I used it for two of mine when they wanted to bite at wounds or bandages. It's better than those terrible cones and they are light weight and come in various sizes.

It may not be a perfect solution, but it could help stop the licking and biting a little bit.
