Food bowl was clean this morning and both kitties chowed breakfast. Almost half the bowl is gone already! Little piggies.

It's either my imagination or Poopy is indeed getting fluffier. His coat is so soft and full! And I'd swear he is still gaining weight. His hips have almost lost that boney feel (much, much better than when diagnosed! More like the natural feel of hips you'd expect on a cat.) and his tail doesn't have that ripple feel when running between my fingers. He's such a handsome boy!

When I bought food yesterday, I also picked up a laser pointer. Both kitties end up panting, they chase it so much! Mia, my shy kitty who avoids DH as if he was a monster or something, actually chased the light up the arm of the chair DH was sitting in! Amazing! :o Even the dogs try to catch the "little red bug" scooting across the floor (and that is hilarious to see!).

Nice AMPS coming in from Poopy.
Where do you pick up a laser pointer? Would love to try that out with my boys.

Mornin Teresa ~O)
Good on ya with a nice yellow preshot :-D

Clean bowls sound like our house. Sometimes I actully wonder if I have washed the bowls already, they are licked so clean

We do laser too, although my guys are pretty lazy, they will chase it for awhile then tire of not catching anything for real. Both cats have different styles of chasing too, it’s funny to watch.

Lisa, the laser pointer was in with all the other cat toys. Plastic shaped mouse in different colors. Was under $4 (my splurge for the month! ).

Poopy thunders after the "little red bug" and Mia pitter patters her feet (I guess she thinks the more pats she does the better her odds at catching the thing). What is really funny...clicking it off just as the "bug" reaches a blanket (I have throw blankets everywhere) or corner of the chair and Mia will continue to search the edge for it to reappear. Poopy will just look at me, as if saying, "Hey! I was playing with that!"

They also get real funny looks on their faces if I can get the "bug" on their paw or tip of their tail. Talk about indignant!

I think the other lazer pointers (not the mousie shaped ones) are at PetSmart on sale this weekend for $2.99. They use 3 or 4 watch batteries which make them cheaper to buy the new toy than replace the batteries - which goes across the grain of my life, but in this case, economics win. My guys LOVE them!

If' you've got some energetic kitties that love to play, but can outlast you (or the batteries), we have a special game we play...
I stand at the top of the stairs w/ most of the tribe. Run the light down the steps, then back up on the adjacent wall (they can't see it going upward if it's on the tread). We play "UP UP UP DOWN DOWN DOWN UP UP UP DOWN DOWN DOWN" as often as possible. A little cardio to bring down the BG? Sure, that works!

We also do really tight circles in the bathtub. Herb is the champion there - 10 circles clockwise, 10 circles counter-clockwise, then up the wall to get his balance back, Lather, Rinse , Repeat! He's adicted to Lazer Tag! Also, running them down the hall to the front door is fun (my hall is 9x36 - and looks like a racetrack sometimes! Especially when the dogs join in!

Hey, what do you mean "even" the dogs? You think da dogs are too stooopid to know good clean fun when they see it?

Seriously, I made the mistake of aiming that thing up the kitchen cabinets once...and the Rotty almost plowed clear through the cabinet door...but she didn't...so I tried it a few more times...

For the one...without a doubt! She even chases her tail...and not in play! If she were to catch the thing, she's tear off half of it before she realized it was hers. (DH calls her the "big dumb dog" in a sing-song voice. She wags her whole butt, loving it!) ohmygod_smile

Mine love the laser pointer too and all have different styles of attack  Big Hen bites at the red bug if its on his paw or side.
Nice AMPS!

I have never tried the laser pointer...I think I will get one for my gang to try out!

Poopy is looking good today!

+5 80 (woke him from nap to test)

Hasn't really eaten since breakfast (both he and Mia have only nibbled at food since). Ate his chicken chunk and sniffed at the newly stirred food from AM but not hungry. Not surprised he's napping. We played hard with the laser for about 30 minutes an hour and a half ago.

Not worried about hypo, but will test again in an hour just to be sure (or sooner if any signs).

Sounds like it is going good with Poopy!

I tried the laser beam once and Sneakers played for about 5 minutes and then gave up since she didn't catch it  .

Silly drooler. You should post a picture of her...while she still has her tail. We don't want to see her once she mauls it off.

My Rotty doesn't have a tail...so she chases the Pomeranian's tail instead. I caught her once with a small clump of 14 inch long strands, of luxurious cream colored fur, hanging out both sides of her big black drooling mouth...and I wanted to bonk her on the head...but I didn't want to hurt my hand.

As requested, here's a picture of Anne (the youngest fur baby in the house). Do not let her innocent look fool you! DH calls her "big dumb dog" for a reason. She's constantly getting into things she shouldn't, and is stubborn to boot. She's a beagle mix (mixed with what, I have no clue) but her personality is ALL Beagle! She's also large, compared to a normal sized Beagle, weighing in at just under 50 pounds. And for comparison...Poopy is half Anne's size. (The entertainment center behind Anne houses a 27" TV in the opening to give you some scale.)

Tell DH he's mean. She's not dumb! See the head tilt? She sustained brain trauma when she was dropped on her head as a baby.

Well, therein lies your problem...that Beagle nose is like Attention Deficit Disorder. Maybe she's stubborn cause she's too busy "smellin", instead of listening. Maybe you could talk to her using scents...scent of beef means stay out of the trashcans...scent of chicken means stay out of the cabinets...scent of rolled up newspaper means stay out of the cat food!

Anne's adorable Teresa...thanks for sharing! And of course I'm kidding about the rolled up newspaper...I use a closed fist (kidding again)!
