yes, i think his dose reduction failed. I'd go back up to 0.75u.

he's not easy, but no, i don't think he's the toughest cat ever. It just is what it is - when I see a cat like Mikey that is having a lot of trouble getting regulated, I think there is likely something else going on: needs a dental, has pancreatitis, maybe has a thyroid issue . . . hard to know. at least we know he's not a high dose cat.

Like anything tough in life, you just keep plowing on - one foot in front of the other gets you where you are going. Just press on.

Let's hope for a good result from the dosecrease, Mary. And Julie is, of course, right: carry on!!:):cat:

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

@julie & punkin (ga) : Hi Julie, hope you're feeling better. Rusty will make you a pot of delicious chicken soup, just to be sure.

It's all Marje's fault...she used the "b-word"!!

As frustrating as this has to be for you, I'm not surprised he's bouncing from dropping 316 points in 3 hours last night...that's quite a dive!

Hope the dosecrease helps and Mikey will start cooperating!

HEY MIKEY!! Get with the program!! (there is a program you know....lol)

Yep, he's clearly not a high dose cat! We'll just have to see what the vet says. His appointment is next week, unless there's another big storm. I'd really hoped to get him in while I was on vacation this week, but I'd forgotten that Dr. Mowry goes to the big vet convention in Los Vegas this week every year. I completely trust the other two vets in the practice, but Dr. Mowry knows Mikey and he knows us. I'm just more comfortable sticking with him. Mikey shows none of the obvious signs of needing a dental, such as bad breath, but he's never had one, and I think the vet should be the one to determine if one is needed or not. I don't think Mikey would feel this good if he had pancreatitis. Since starting Lantus, he's been the happiest cat on the planet. The thyroid I'm going to ask about. He may need to look into that. I'm starting a list of questions to ask the vet. If there are any you think I should add to the list, please let me know.
