Morning all,
Hoping for a better cycle today. He seems to be feeling good though. Even getting a little feisty with me!! Didn't want pokies this morning, but eventually got a drop of blood out of him. Appy is more than good - still not sure why all of a sudden he is SO hungry. Didn't really want to cooperate with inhaler this morning either, but eventually he realized I wasn't giving up.

He has been very "talkative"!! More like yelling at me all morning! More fuds mom!! Holding off for a bit cause if he eats all his fuds this morning, he'll be yelling at me all day!!

So far, no problem with him eating the new Weruva low phos foods with binder, Methyl-b12, cosequin.

I'll be taking him back in 2 weeks for a recheck on his blood work.
@Marje and Gracie - I've been spending a LOT of money for all things Flame lately. My vet told me that when I come back in 2 weeks for blood work, they could do just a renal panel and check his HCT in house and it would be a lot less expensive, but obviously, wouldn't give me all the values of the complete panel I had run last time.
I might have to ask her for more information on exactly what these tests WOULD give me before making a decision, but wanted to bounce this off you as well. What are your thoughts on this?

Have a great day everyone!! Surf safely kitties - no funny business!! It's supposed to be a beautiful day here in NJ - 60 degrees!! I think it's still February?!?!? Hey, I'll take it!! :bighug::bighug::bighug: to all!

Hmmmm, looks like this is going to be an active cycle today. Dropped 89 points in 2.5 hours. C'mon Blue!! I do have to go out for a bit today, but will see what he's doing in another hour or two. He just had some more of his new Weruva food. after the +2.5 test. I didn't feed him the whole can at once today and divided up his phos binder into 4 doses today so I could divide his food cause he's been driving us all crazy with the crying for fuds!!

Yesterday was last dose of Pred, so we'll see where he goes. Fortunately, my son can work at home Mon, tues, wed this week and I can get him to get a couple of spot checks for me. He won't be able to test like I can on weekends, but can at least get a couple tests in during the day.

Hoping to see some nice surfing today!

Looking like it could be active today. Hope the Pred out of his system is going to show lower numbers and good timing that your son can be home for the next few days to get some test in to make sure he is safe.

Surf Flame and lets get to the beach!

Enjoy this nice weather we are having here on the East coast. I have the heat off and some windows opened. :)

I love a good appy report and happy to hear he's eating the good stuff with the supplements. Flame, don't give mama bean too hard of a time please.

He is not prone to huge drops, but gotta admit almost 90 points in 2.5 hours is kinda new.... and then again, he IS a CAT... so there's that!! He's being very snuggly today too... I'm kinda liking that!! Although, mama bean has a lot to do today.

Hope you're both having a good day today Karen and Bobbie!! Bobbie, isn't this weather wonderful?? :joyful:

Yikes!! I should be happy about his first blue, but dropping 150 pts in about 5 hours is a bit surprising.

I have to go out for about 1 -2 hours. How concerned should I be with leaving him? I'm going to feed him some LC food before I go.

Just got back and he seems to be surfing now but just had some bad diarrhea. Really smelly and orange-ish in color. He seems off. Maybe it's the new food. I hope not cause he should really have the lower phos foods, but if it's going to cause diarrhea and make him not want to eat, that's not good.

Do you think I should switch him back to FF tonite if this continues? He ate the Weruva Foul Ball today (chick & turkey) and the Chicken FrickaZee last nite with a snack of some Weruva plain chicken (can't remember what it's called ) last nite and today. GAH!! Thought this was going so well!!
I sure hope his tummy is better later. Diarrhea, not good. If this continues, is there anything I can give him?

I'm actually at little surprised to see these numbers today. We'll probably see a bounce tomorrow.

I don't have much advise on the food other than see how it goes. If you have SEB you could try 1/4 tsp but it can't be within 2 hours of other meds.

He hasn't had meds since this morning. Maybe I'll try that in a bit of baby food mixed with some water. Why does he pull these things on a Sunday?? Oy vey!

Yeah for blue! Thank goodness for no more pred. Though I would watch him, cause it's possible the pred was helping with some GI inflammation.

As for fuds, for the moment I would stick with just one flavour. You've tried three new foods in the last day, so it's hard to isolate what ingredient/food might be causing some upset. If that's what is doing it. Keep in mind that some of the Weruva are lower calorie. Keep track of the calories you are feeding to make sure he's geting enough. Might be why he was so hungry.
Why does he pull these things on a Sunday?? Oy vey!
Cause he knows that's when you are home to helicopter over him. :p

Did he just switch to the Weruva yesterday? Did you switch him all at once or gradually? Some cats are very sensitive to food switches, and that could be enough to cause tummy upset. You might go back to the FF (with the binder, and when his poos are normal, try adding the Weruva gradually, increasing the % of it each day until he's completely switched over. I had to take this approach with my civvie, Sasha.

This might just be my cats, but when I gave them baby food, it loosened their stools, so while it's easy on the tummy if it's feeling upset, it might not help with the diarrhea. I used Fortiflora for that, but I've heard that the formula has changed in the last year or so, and I don't know how effective it is now.

Sending good poo vines.

I can tell he's not feeling well today. Yesterday, he was awake and talking all day. He was OK this morning. I think it's a combination of him feeling funny cause his numbers are much lower than they have been and the new food.

@Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey I did switch him all at once. I don't know why I didn't think of switching him slowly... DUH!! I think you're right, I may need to do this gradually. Although, he's had the PawLickin Chicken before and used to eat it a lot, till he got tired of it.

Baby food normally does not upset him and has been my ace in the hole for a while now. He's sleeping now but I think I'm going to try some baby food with SEB in a little while.

I'm actually hoping his numbers go up a little by PS. I don't want my first time shooting a low number to be on a Sunday nite when I have to go to work tomorrow. Falling asleep in meetings with my boss, not a great idea for job security!!

Thanks Karen, Wendy and Tricia!! :bighug:

I like the idea of the baby food with the SEB in it. Hope his GI issues calm down and could very well be the new food all at once didn't agree with him .

I really can't do a PJ party tonite. I have to go to work tomorrow!! He's never been this low before and I'm nervous about the overnight. I can stay up till +3.5 or +4 but then I have to go to bed. I'd set an alarm for +6 or +7 (and hope I hear it) but my problem is, once I get up, I doubt I'll get back to sleep.
I guess the only thing to do is see where he is at PS time and go from there.

Thank goodness my son can work from home tomorrow. He's not going to be happy having to interrupt his work day to test, but he'll do it..

Flame is on his way up. There's a half decent chance he'll bounce from those unfamiliar blues. If you are worried about what you see at +3.5 or +4, you can always leave something a little higher carb out for him to snack on. And he was still over 100 points from the danger zone today. But think of this as a positive sign - Flame showed great progress today! It was super to see something other than pink or yellow on his SS.

I agree @Wendy&Neko it was really great seeing those blues!! His drops today were just more drastic than they'd ever been. That's what is making me nervous. His curves have been relatively flat all along and then today he drops 90 pts in the first 2.5 hours and goes down steadily from there till +9.5.
Not sure if he'll bounce tonite - he could, but I'm thinking maybe tomorrow, not sure at all. This is new territory for me.

I warned you all I was a nervous nellie, big chicken!! Just glad I have peeps here to hold my hand and keep me grounded!! :)

It's nice to see that blue today. I hope Flame will surf safely for you tonight and his tummy feels better. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:

He is rising so he just might bounce some tonight but if not like Wendy said, give him some higher carb food for him to bump him up some so that when he hits nadir, he'll be working with a higher number.

We were all nervous nellies when our kits started getting lower than we were used to or anticipating that the low would be when we couldn't monitor. Lucky for you, you have an ace in the hole, DS. He could always post tomorrow if he needed help. Someone will be around to help guide him.

Love that Flame is coming down now. :)

Put him back on FF for tonite and will introduce the new Weruva foods slowly. Gave some SEB with baby food earlier and so far so good on the diarrhea (ANTIJINX)! He went up to 258 at PMPS. Just gave him his shot. He ate about 1/3 can of FF with binder. All I can do now is wait a few hours, test again and see where he goes. It's either gonna be another cycle like today or a bounce.
He seems a little better tonite but still 'off'. At least he's eating... that's a good thing!

like Wendy said, give him some higher carb food for him to bump him up some

Bobbie, Wendy, does anybody know if there's a higher carb food that isn't loaded with grains and glutens? He can't handle those. Grains and glutens give him horrible diarrhea, so I bought some FF with gravy, but that is for emergencies only because I know what will happen afterwards. But, as far as higher carb, that's all I have in the house, in my hypo kit. For tonite, it's going to have to be regular FF Classics. They are higher carb than they Weruva I was giving him today though. Any advice on another higher carb food I could get to keep around that isn't loaded with grains and glutens?

A number of the Weruva have potato in them for carbs. For higher high carb, the Grandma's Chicken Soup is high carb and low phosphorus. Neko didn't need that high a carb, so I ended up with a couple of the Cats in the Kitchen pouches at 16-17%, the Chick Magnet and Pumpkin Lickin Chicken. Both also low phosphorus. Worst case, if he can't handle potato is a drop of honey or syrup on his regular fuds.

Well, I think his liver is panicking, looks like a bounce starting. Wasn't sure if I'd see higher numbers tonite or tomorrow AM. May not have to set my alarm tonite after all. Already spoke to my son about getting a +2 and maybe +5 or so tomorrow with instructions to call or text me if he's dropping too fast. Never sure when the bounce will clear, so want him to be prepared.

Thanks everyone!! Going to bed in about 30 - 45 minutes. Have a good nite all!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
