Morning ~O) ~O)

After being up all night sick :sad: , I dozed off about 6:30 AM and woke about 7:40 AM, only to walk into the kitchen and find Lucian eating the last of the food that was left out. :o

I had put down half a 5.5oz can about 3AM and should have picked it up when I was in there around 5, uneaten at that time, but I didn't think about it ohmygod_smile Like I said, I was sick all night, but at least I haven't hung over the toilet since about 3:30. :thumbup

Not sure how much he ate or if there was time for it to kick in his BG. I'm not going to be concerned with his high AMPS this morning.

After his flat readings yesterday, anything may have caused the high AMPS today.

Yep it could be a tiny bounce off the yellow yesterday or it could be a small food spike, or both, but lets hope that he comes down well again today. Hopefully you are feeling better today as well.

I will try to check in on you both several times today, but we have a major winter storm bearing down on us, and there is a good chance that I'm going to have to weather it solo since even though it has been forecast for weeks now, my DH's company has decided this would be a good week to send his crew out of town for a job. :roll: So will be in and out all day trying to make sure I have everything I'm going to need if I get snowed in or lose power.

Got up just in time for his test, he's down 300 points at +6. BIG dive, so I guess he'll be a rubber ball tonight.........or maybe not. :lol: Never know with him! :lol:

Hate to hear you have that storm coming in AND you have to go it alone. But I know you'll be prepared. :thumbup Do you have a kerosene heater or some type of alternative heat, just in case? I had one for years, for emergencies, but since I live in an apartment now, couldn't use it if I had it.

Will be sending good vibes to you, to hold off the worst of the storm until you get Autumn home form the vet. :YMHUG:

Nope no alternative heating source here..well unless you count 14 cats and a 97lb drooler...lol. I do however have tons of comforters, afghans, and blankets etc. I do have a barbeque grill if I need it for cooking although we should keep the power on, and if it does go off it won't stay off for every long since two blocks away there is the police station and if our power goes down so does theirs so we will get it back pretty quickly.

Yeah getting Autumn in and home again is my biggest worry, we've told her that momma won't ever leave her anywhere if I do it will only be for a little bit and that she will always get to be home to sleep in her own little bed. But just in case I'm taking her in with one of my t-shirts and the blanket from her bed, so if worse comes to worse she will have the smells of home with her as well as her own food, insulin etc. I always hate having to leave any of my babies at the vet's even when I know they are in good hands and it needs to happen that way, so they can feel better.

Oh yeah, I lived near a police station once, we were always the first to get our power back. ;-)

Good call on packing her stuff from home w/ your shirt, that will make her feel better for sure, especially if she has to stay over. But we are going to think positive thoughts that she will make it home to be with her mommabean. As bad as she will be feeling after all the dental work, she needs to be with you. :sad:

I HAD planned to do a curve today, but since I didn't get up till almost 2, that idea went right out the window. ohmygod_smile I'll have to wait a couple days until I get my sleep schedule straightened back out now. :-x

Curious to see what he does for the rest of the day, after that 300pt drop. :?: That's crazy! :o

So far so good, hopefully won't bounce as high tomorrow morning, getting more 'flat' like yesterday. Don't want to say much and jinx myself. :lol:

everytime he takes a steep drop like that he bounces high at the end of the cycle or by his next preshot. I'm wondering if maybe you could steer him a little with food, like try giving him maybe a tablespoon of food, at preshot, +1, +2 & +3 to see if we can gentle that drop some.

Considering he dropped 300pts, about 60%, by his +6, it doesn't surprise me. :sad:

This morning, I fed him before his shot and left extra food out for all of them, because I went back to bed til 2, remember? Up all night? I'm sure he had some of it.

But since his dx and change to canned food, he eats about every 2-3 hrs, except for the last couple days, when his numbers have been better, he's been eating every 5 hrs or so. I feed him whenever he wants to eat unless it's less than 2 hrs until his test.

Like I said, when I saw that 300pt drop today, I knew he was gonna skyrocket! :o

And I haven't been able to catch him for a ketone test yet today, but I'm trying. I'll probably wake him at pm+2 and then should be able to get it.

What your saying is not to give him his normal breakfast, but just a little, then continue small amounts between his AM shot and +6 or just the 1st 3 hrs?

I know if he eats his breakfast, he won't want anything for at least a couple-3 hrs and he's always really hungry first thing in the morning. That's why I started leaving food out at night for them, because they wouldn't have anything between his before bed test and his AMPS. That's like 7-8 hrs.

He just came in meowing, he wants to eat, it's been 1.5 hrs since he ate, but he's sky high. :sad:

Right break up his breakfast in about 3-4 smaller meals. Because he did stay to flat on the higher carb foods. I'm thinking those higher carbs slowed his drop. So either give him his breakfast as normal, just up the carb content, so he has to work harder to drop like a stone, or use the ultra low carb and feed several small meals early on to slow that rapid drop that is causing him to go screaming for the heavens when he bounces...does that make sense?

Yeah, makes sense.
He just ate again. But I got his ketone test, negative, thank goodness.
I'll test his BG in about an hour or so, that way his dose has a chance to kick in, but I'm sure he'll be up due to food. Can't help it, when he's running that high he's starving and I'm not going to starve him for a test, because he's so high.
