Good afternoon LL!

Tarragon just came in from his 1/2 hour on the leash. It is beautiful here with a high of 70. All of the windows are open and the fur kids are happy, other than the fact that Mason and DGF left earlier. Tarragon had a lot of fun outside playing and exploring with Charlie.

We didn't run the 5K after all. It was 20 with a windchill of 10 so we skipped it. Hope you all have a great day!!

Wow, quite a change in the weather from yesterday to today! Mr. T wants to know what happened to Mr. Greenie?

Guess that exercise was just what Mr/ T need to bring those BGs down!

Ugh! i don't blame you! And now 70 today??? I'm glad you got out to enjoy it, too bad it wasn't as nice for the race.

Nice slide into green for Tarragon. I don't blame you for not going out in that weather. Your weather sounds similar to our weather. Low 30s today and 60 tomorrow. Crazy.

Nice +6 there, Tarragon! How does he do an leash? That is so neat!

Several people have mentioned you and Tarragon to me the last few days since Kis has started having asthma attacks again. I was wondering if have you noticed any relationship between diabetes and asthma attacks?

Our vet has told us that while in most cats asthma is merely allergic bronchitis, stress could be the trigger in some asthmatics. So, high or low bg numbers (or oscillating between them) can cause stress on the body which might trigger asthma symptoms. Conversely, asthma might cause a spike in bg. Have you noticed anything like this in Tarragon?

Kismet was dx with asthma and diabetes within a week of each other last September. We treated both conditions simultaneously and when he went into diabetic remission, he also went into asthmatic remission. Flash forward to a few days ago. He started wheezing a bit, so I had a feeling I should check his bg, and that was when I discovered it was elevated. Two days later, he had a full blown asthma attack for the first time since OTJ, and now he's back on insulin. While we don't really know what the connection is between the two conditions (which one occurs first and triggers the other), we are fairly confident that in Kismet, there is most definitely a correlation.

He has a flovent inhaler and the albuterol. Our vet told us not to start flovent again, and just treat with albuterol as needed for now. He has had four asthma attacks (that we know of) in the last 7 days since being asthma free for 4+ months. Coincidentally, we've also seen diabetic numbers for the first time in 4+ months, too. That's why I am thinking there's no coincidence at all. I was curious to hear what your thoughts are, and if you've had similar experiences. Thanks!
