Happy Friday Eve to you all. shadow is doing well with 4 Ps yesterday and 3 so far today. He is his usual happy self and I am so thankful for him and his lovely numbers. I do hope that there is some healing going on with these nice greens and blues.
OT: My DSIL has come to the end of her long battle with lung cancer. She was rushed to the hospital on Monday morning and is now on a breathing tube and sedatives. They lowered the sedatives yesterday and to everyone's surprise, she was lucid and recognized everyone in the room. She pointed to each one and they went and stood next to her bed, holding her hand. the breathing tube makes speaking impossible, but she is doing her best to communicate under the circumtances.
DH had flown up yesterday and arrived in the afternoon just as this was happening. Since Monday morning with the heavy sedation, she was unresponsive to her loved ones standing around her. Her strength of will has allowed for this final goodbye to everyone. Hew body is destroyed with cancer and swollen with the fluid that is accumulating. They are going back today at 10am but with her condition, it is very difficult to make the end of life decisions that might have come easier while she was unconscious. The doctors have said that the cancer is too far gone for her to have any quality of life from this point on and that this is the end time. The DNR is in place and her family will be with her this morning. I am not sure if they will shut down the oxygen today or if they will hold off for as long as possible.
My DH insisted that I NOT go with him since my condition has not improved at all since starting my medication. I know it will kick in soon, but for now, he said he did NOT want me going up there with all the stress of flying and what is going on. He said the last thing we need is fro ME to get sick or have a heart attack while up in NY! So, I sit here waiting for news on the situation, feeling very sad that I am not there to bid farewell to my DSIL. There is much sadness around here and I hesitated to write about this to you all, but then I decided to ask for your prayers for her and her family. It is a very sad and difficult time, but the last stage here while she is awake is like a gift to them....a last chance to bid adieu. If you have any spare vines or prayers, we would all appreciate it. Sending love and hugs to you all... :YMHUG:
