Yesterday Recap:
AMPS 247
+3 334 (oh no!)
+5.5 235
PMPS 241
+3 225
+6.5 164 (oh yes.)

Yay! She got into blue last night! (Nice job, Ripley, but you're still getting an increase to 1.25 tonight!)

Good morning, LL!
Ripley's bright-eyed and perky this morning!
Can't say the same for her mama (dropped a syringe/bent needle, bent another by missing the tiny insert spot on the pen, and jabbed my finger w/needle trying to put the cap back on ohmygod_smile ~ guess I forgot it was bent  ). If I didn't have a kitty needing my care this morning, I would have given up and gone straight BTB. Jeesh.

Trying a different flavor for b'fast (the Wellness Turkey might be getting too mundane for this Sugarcat); last night's attempt at vareity failed (no more BG Turkey for her ~ but my hoover civvie loved it!).
Soooo, today's menu included Cowboy Cookout (even in my head I say it with a twang).
CC used to be a part of her regular diet shortly after diagnosis, but she didn't like the chunks. She got tired of the flavor (& chunks) pretty quickly. Today, however, Ripley seems to be thoroughly enjoying her breakfast! She's eating is quite intently (hope she keeps it down  ).

Wait -- yep, she left the chunks for last; eating them, but rather hesitantly (more like chew, spit, chew, spit ~ hey! just like a cowboy! ).

I wish everyone a wonderful Sunday!

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O)

oh my on your start today. Love it when those things happen with getting those shots ready. Stabbed myself way too many times too.... OUCH!

Mannie loves Cowboy Cookout - always has, chunks or no chunks. Good food choice today Ripley. We tried the BG Turkey too,. That lasted one day and then he wouldn't eat it. oh HAHA on the chew spit chew spit.

Good luck too with the dosecrease. I hope it brings things down overall for Ripley. It is nice to see she made the blues last night.

Have a great day today.

2/17 Ripley AMPS 239

Hi, Michelle! The BG turkey even looks flavorless. Glad Mannie likes the Cowboy Cookout.

Hmmmm I had a feeling Ripley was eating too quickly -- up it came.
Poor girl. She's not much of a vomiter (anti-jinx). She seems a little freaked out by it. Or maybe that's me...

I think I'll try to do half Wellness/half CC next time and see what happens.

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239

Morning Josie, I've had those things happen with the syringes, too, just recently the fluids needle, and they're larger, an ouchie! Maggie loves Cowboy Cookout but leaves the chunks. I remove the little carrot if I see it. Good luck with the increase and bet it brings Ripley into some nice numbers. Have a great day.

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239

Morning Josie, love the 'chew, spit, chew, spit' comment! I hate it when I mess up the syringes. I get quite clutsy sometimes and the other day went through 3 of them before I got it right! Hope you have a great day!!

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239

Hi guys,

Rusty liked Cowboy Cookout, but it didn't like him. I tried him on it twice, a year apart. He vomited it right back both times. I am pretty sure that he has a beef allergy. Apparently beef and fish are the two things many cats can't tolerate. BG turkey is always gobbled up by Rusty the first time it is served, but then ignored if I serve it again the same day. If I wait a month and serve it again, the scenerio repeats itself. Too bad, because to me it smells more like turkey than any of the other "turkey" foods. Wellness Turkey and FF T&G are my staples.

Good luck with the dose increase!

2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346

Hi, Ann -- Carrot! So that's what that is! I wonder what those chunks are...

Hi, Jo -- Thank you for the visit! Those skinny needles are so delicate.

Ripley did this yesterday too: Started yellow, then PINK  .
Wrong way, again babygirl. :?: :?:

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346

Hi Josie. Ripely, you're going the wrong way buddy. Turn around.

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346

Hi, Ella -- Sorry to hear about Rusty's rejection of CC. I'm wondering if it's too rich from Ripley's system. She's eaten it before, but I may have made too-sudden of a switch.

Hi, John -- I agree! I'm hoping for more 'normal' numbers today...

Ripley's outside now, chewing on some grass. Can't believe she'd leave her heated rocking-chair-by-the-heater for a chilly outing.

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346

Awww, Ripley. Sorry to hear the flavor didn't sit well with you. Shasta's not big on the CC flavor, either. Hope Ripley comes on down from the stinky pinkies. Have a good day, Josie!

p.s. I hate days like that...poking myself, bending needles, dropping stuff. Those are usually the days that I want to go back to bed, but instead I have a long day at work...never a good start. Hope your day goes better!!!!

2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346, +7 357 Time for B/W?

Aaaarggghhh.

She's going to the vet tomorrow for a quick check-up.
Should I request to have some bloodwork done? Or a urinalysis? Or both?

Would her vomiting after b'fast this morning effect her numbers? (She didn't eat any more food after vomiting ~ just a couple of treats after tests today.)

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346, +7 357, Time for B/W?

It does sound like she has an upset tummy, throwing up, being a little finicky about her food, eating the grass.
Hopefully, it resolves itself on it's own.

I just know my experience, and with J.D. having cronic pancreatitis, he will sometimes eat and then lay kind of more rigid like and kind of more unresponsive (gazey) for about an hour after eating.

If you want to test for pancreatitis, it needs to be a fasting test. How many hours seems to be debatable. The first time J.D. had a Spec fPL test he was fasted for about 8 hours, and the second time for only about 4.5 hours.

When was Ripley's last BW done?

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346, +7 357, Time for B/W?

Hi, Dyana. Thank you for the info.
Ripley's last blood/urine work was on Jan. 23.

I'll look into the primer link.

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346, +7 357, Time for B/W?

Looking at Ripley's SS, I am wondering what the base is for the clavamox -- is it in a sugar syrup? It looks like since Ripley has been on the AB, numbers have been higher. Typically, if there's an infection, numbers will drop once the AB kicks in. Hows Ripley been feeling?

Re: 2/17 Ripley AMPS 239, +2 346, +7 357, Time for B/W?

Hello, Sienne -- Ripley was on Clavamox form 1/25-1/28. Though her vet didn't think it had sweetener in it, I felt otherwise (it was sticky, tasted like ultra-sweet bubblegum, and her #s did rise while on it).
On 1/28 he gave her an AB shot in lieu of continuing the Clavamox treatment. It was an injection of Cefovecin, and lasts 14 days. (Day 14 will be 2/21.)

Ripley has been feeling generally well ~ better since stopping the Clavamox (she had low-energy/lethargy, some nausea, picky appy).
She currently is perkier & more 'herself', yet last night there was that 'off' behavior immed. after eating. (I saw that last late 2012, I believe.) She's eating (vomited this morning, very rare; prob. due to the sudden change in food).

Would the Cefovexin cause higher numbers? I also wonder if it will stay in her system longer than 2 wks.

I looked at the list of typical pancreatitis symptoms, and she doesn't really meet that criteria, but ECID...

Her appy is good/even better than it was 2 wks ago, she's talkative, snuggly ~ all normal. Pooping, peeing, drinking water, tho not excessively.

We are giving her 50ml fluids for her kidneys, EOD (will likely increase soon, vet wants to ease her into fluid treatment).

This is what we are adding to each meal (b'fast & dinner):
5-6 T water
1/10th caps. Jarrow's B-Right
1/4 tab. B-12 (approx. 250mcg)
1/8 t. Miralax
1/4 t. phos. binder (started 2/14... coincidence that numbers increased after this?)
and occasionally oregano or fortiflora.

She's getting the same treats as usual (freeze-dried shrimp, f-d turkey, tuna flakes).

Today so far:

AMPS 239 (2.25 oz. Cowboy cookout, vomited at +1)
+2 346
+7 347
PMPS 362 (dose increase to 1.25u) (2.25 oz Wellness Turkey, .25 oz. Cowboy Cookout)
