hi Folks
Seems like some of us are having the same problem
ever since this meter mess, Shakes is al over,,boing boing boing....
up and down, Its like he has never been on insulin before....like we are starting completely
over again...but this time his numbers are even higher....
suggestions welcome....
I am thinking I will reduce, then if nothing happens increase again...

I feel your pain momma. I thought maybe recently it was the full moon but we’re way past that now. I have no answers. I guess they were consistent for so long and now we have changed things, and their bodies don’t know what to do?
I think we need an "all drink”.

I'm chalking it up to new vial stupidity. Shakes' numbers started going a little haywire since 1/4 where you wrote "New vial at night"

Either way, I'm tossing my vote in for a reduction. Nadirs are hitting green so you really don't have much room to increase the dose. Perhaps he needs a reduction and he is rebounding at the end of each cycle because the dose is too high.
Looks like he got the best response sub 3.4u but who the hell knows because of the FSL craziness!

Thanks all for the input, but when I took his gluscose
tonight he was 471!!! nailbite_smile @-) :o :?
I give up , so I raised to 3.8 tonight
Ijust couldnt reduce with a number like that!
Once again I hate this %&$(T%)@_&* dance!!

definately time for a drink!

You know lisa, my vet said the same thing, and that is when she explained
how the potency of a vial has to be within a certain percentage
so one vial could be stronger than another!
SOSOSOSOS, I am guessing I got the weak vial and you got the strong vial!

I hear ya.
No way I could reduce on a 471 either. I'm wondering....what does Shakes look like at +11? When does he swing upwards? Wonder if it may make a difference if you shot him slightly earlier at night? Does he rocket at the end of a cycle?

Denise sorry SHakes is all over the place. I know that is so frustrating. Looks like the new vial is not strong enough. Hate that. They are so darn expensive it's not like you can just go get another one and try that. UGh! I wish you the best on the 3.8 tonight.

Just a thought, did you check the relion with the vet's AT? Maybe he/she can let you borrow it for a couple of days and do a comparison. I do that with mine. I just borrow their extra one for 2 days and compare with mine to make sure it is somewhat comparable. Anyway, just a thought.

Praying for a good cycle for SHakes!

Lisa,
He start rising around +9 but I leave for work at 6am shoot him between 5 and 5:30 and I get
home between 4:30 and 5pm, sometimes later so there is no way I could play with his shot times
unfortuantely...plus if I am off even hald an hour he gets wacky

Lori,
I had bought the alpha track and the relion and the AT was actually much lower than the Relion for most
of the tests I did!
So i am definatley foing with the AT (that is what my vet uses__)

Denise,

The AT also comes in lower than the relion (about 30pts). Although, sometimes, the AT is within 10pts of relion. Weird, huh.

So are you switching to the AT? Or already switched?

Lori

Already switched....tested the AT and RElion side by side
and my relion was usually about 80 points higher which is why i went with the AT

Got it. So all these number are on the AT? Wow! Very frustrating.

Hope it goes well tonight.

Lori

Well, you won't like my comment, but I think you need more data. One of the possibilities is that he is going low mid cycle and bouncing. When you have gotten some midcycle numbers at night, they have looked pretty good.

It could be he needs more insulin, but I don't know if we can sure about that yet. Get a curve in ASAP so we have a whole picture?

Yuck!
I know! I was planning on doing a +4, +6 and +8 this weekend to once again
see what is happening

Thanks Sue!

I think he could be dropping down lower than you think at nadir overnight.
Maybe when you do a curve it will show you more of which way to go up or down.
And you have always said Shakes was one that took a while to settle into a dose.
I know its very frustrating! I feel your pain.
Hope he will come down quickly from that number on the AT.

Re: 2/15 - Shakes - all over since meter change-CRAP

CRAP!!
+4=196
+5=112
fed some EVO dry, dont want him to have a huge bounce even though I know he will
damn it, I should have lowered
the 471 tonight caould have been a bounce from today
maybe that is why he does not move much at night,
because he is moving during the day!

The fact that your Alpha comes in lower than your Relion is so weird to me.
I have an Alpha and a Relion Micro and the Alpha has always come in higher. I tested them side by side for a couple of days in January and again last weekend.
It definitely makes me question how reliable any meter is, really.
