Happy Dancing here!! Got to admit to being a little nervous at shooting a 66, but I put my big girl panties on and did it!

It's just been a long time since I've had the opportunity to shoot that low!

Surf safely for mama, China baby!!

Very Nice :D

It's really early in the cycle. I hope she is getting some HC now.
You made your point, China. Congratulations on the Reduction! Now, up you go.
Let's see something in the 50s next test, okay?

A drop of syrup and we're up!

Still have several hours of checking, but at least she's well into the safe zone...of course she may bounce to the moon too! Her liver has always seemed to work great!

Yes Dyana...she got some HC when I got the 39 and a little more when she'd only gone to 41 plus a drop of syrup

She's coming back down now, but we're getting to the last half of the cycle so I'm hoping she'll surf now (and not bounce)

Just gave her a little of her regular LC at +5 and +6 and she's laying next to me purring away

China was on .75 not long ago and then when I introduced the RadCat food, her numbers started up. Since RadCat is supposed to be lower carb than the raw food she was on, it made no sense that her numbers went up, so I had started increasing her insulin again until we were up to 1 unit (since China's been diabetic a long time and we test a lot, instead of doing increases in .25 unit increments, we just increased from .75 to a "skinny" 1 unit...then up to a whole 1 unit

Now that the RadCat is out of the picture, she's coming back down the dose ladder! I'll be reducing the full .25 tonight (if she doesn't bounce) because dropping into the 30's gets my attention (instead of just "shaving" the dose down to something between 1u and .75u)

I seriously doubt if she'll ever be able to go OTJ, but I haven't given up hope! Rosa's doing really great for so early in the dance!

The only thing that worries me is that we're under a Winter Weather Warning for super cold temps and up to 12" of snow this afternoon and I NEED to go to the store, so I need her to be a good kitty and let me go get cat food! (what else?...LOL)

I'm still finding the food thing tricky at the moment. It's so weird how different foods affect each cat differently. I'm still thinking that Rosa, despite her love of tuna, may have some sort of reaction to it - the food I gave her last night and this morning is fractionally higher in carbs than the flaked tuna flavor she'd been mostly eating. Yet her numbers, with or without the reduction, are steadier for longer over the last few days since I've phased the tuna out. I probably will test the theory in another couple of days by letting her have a little tuna and seeing what happens but then she was mostly still in acceptable numbers even with that on board.

I agree, seeing any number in the 30's really grabs attention. I'm a bit more relaxed about dealing with the low numbers now with Rosa as I know I can get her back up, but hubby still tends to panic a bit when he asks what the reading was and the answer is anything under 50. I'm more of the opinion that it needs dealing with - now - but she'll be just fine as long as I get on with getting carbs into her where the first couple of times I was scared she wouldn't come back up fast enough.

I think there's always hope for OTJ, or if not that then for a really nice, low dose that just keeps her surfing along happily almost all the time. I do hope for OTJ for Rosa but I know it's not possible for every cat, and she might still be one who doesn't quite manage without a little insulin support yet - I'm just taking each day as it comes at the moment and seeing where she finishes up.

And China - if you want your dinner you'd best get your numbers to where you can be left for a little while!! We've been so lucky here this winter compared with the rest of the country - in some ways I'd love to see a couple of real winter storms and lots of snow as the part of the UK I'm from doesn't ever really get that cold. But I'm not sure I'd want that sort of weather for a month or so at a time either!

We've had a really boring winter here and haven't even had 1" of snow (maybe if you added up all the flurries, but not 1" all at once) and I've kind of missed at least a little snow, but I was thinking more along the lines of 2-3", not up to 12"!!

Guess we better watch what we wish for....LOL

We probably should - if I've jinxed this area to get the worst snowstorm ever in the next week or so now I could be in trouble ;) I could go see some real snow if we drove out to Mt Rainier - but it's a couple of hours each way and I don't feel comfortable leaving Rosa for 5 or 6 hours on her own at the moment (including time to actually look at the snow when we get there). Maybe next year!

I think I found those famous big girl panties that Marje has posted before. Great job shooting that today Chris. I've seen some people get a rise out of a particular protein (ie. beef) - it's crazy what makes a difference to cats. Neko's current HC (potato is the carbs) is the same carb % as her old one (wheat is the carb) but I need less of it to get the same numbers increase.

@manxcat419 - April, don't you dare jinx this weather we are having today!

I'll try not to - I'm enjoying the sunshine and the warmth (for the time of year anyway) today too much to want it to be anything different!

Love the picture @Wendy&Neko !! I think I've only seen that picture once or twice in the entire time I've been here....We should use it more often!

Made the mad dash to the store to stock up on cat food and we're good for awhile now!

Let the madness begin! (of course this being Missouri, the more the weatherman screams, the less we seem to get.....If he says "this is going to be a big one folks!", we get squat...but beware when he says "this one's going to pass us by"!!!...better be prepared for a big one!....LOL

I see China has been partying in the lagoon with Cinco today. Sorry I hauled him out, China. Maybe he'll jump back in tonight. He's been spending a lot of time there lately. Maybe it's the company? Or maybe he's training for the Olympics!:D

I wish we had a winter storm coming. Everything's blooming here and yesterday we were in the 70s!!! Darn it, I'm not ready for spring yet! I want some winter!

Congrats on the reducie. Really weird about the RadCat.

Well I wonder if she's going to bounce this time? Very unusual for her to get into the 30's and not bounce!! (anti-jinx)

Now China, I'm not saying I want you to bounce so no peeking in your condo!!

So far today AMPS 66,+1 57,+2 39,+2.5 41,+3 57,+3.5 90,+5 76,+6 58,+7.5 74,+9 77

Thanks for the visits everyone! It's been an exciting day...and not just for China! That must have been one heck of a party in the lagoon!
