I was really hoping to get a yellow start but I think Scooter wants me to be grateful and kept us one point in the pink!
He is happy and playful this morning running thru tubes and playing with toys and kittens. It is so nice to see him do that and it is because of all of you and your guidance that I get to see that from time to time. Thank you!
He was also really hungry this morning since he was kind of lethargic and ate very little last night. I was glad to see him eat.
So I figure it will cost us a lot of money for feeders! 13 of them. As I thought it thru if I am not home the kitties with food issues will just eat twice as much and the timid ones will get nothing. So I decided to just get 13 new bowls that are all the same to introduce wet food with. I am sure they will all love it. Right now Scooter and Jack always leave a little for the others when they are done and then I have to supervise who gets the left overs! So I am not worried about them eating, just about my part in it.
Each one has a story that began not very nice. From 3 legged Buddy on a farm and starving to being dumped and left behind by the former owners of a house we bought. The latest kittens came from a home that the kids ran over the kitty's back with a rocking chair and he is paralyzed. Our vet fixed him best she could and he gets around. We took his sister because they are a team and she helps him. They were born in a junk yard and lived in a tire. Scooter was brought home by Jack with no claws and a broken back leg which is fixed of course. He told Scooter "go to that house they will fix you right up kid". Jack was left with the house we bought and the neighbors told us his name. The rest have equally bad stories. So it is a full time job almost taking care of these guys just cleaning litter twice a day. I rarely answer the question "how many cats do you have?" because no one really knows I have more than 3 or 4 since the house is clean and the cats hide when the door bell rings. Except Jack likes men a lot and greets them.
I feel so blessed to have found FDMB to save Jack and now Scooter. You are all a huge support! Thank you.
Wow, that is a lot of bowls! And cats ;-) . It's sweet that they all found their fur-ever home with you! I can only imagine all the litter you go through  . I'm glad that there are beans like you to take care of the poor kittehs in need.
I hope Scooter will show you some yellows tonight. Happy V Day to you!
Linda, you have a huge heart to have taken in all those kitties. That's a lot of love on Valentine's Day. Good luck with the new food routines.
About the dose, Scooter hasn't seen much action on 5U so I would thing about increasing soon. It's great to hear how active he is becoming. He must be feeling so much better.
love the story of your kitters. one of my friends was involved with cat rescue and she's got 8 now. you'd never know it by her house except that she has cat trees in her living room and the furniture covered with towels to keep cat hair off of them. never smells and everything is pristine.
thanks for having a big heart and taking in all those little ones. :YMHUG: if there were more people like you, there wouldn't be homeless kitties.
As long as Scooter is not going below 50, then he's not getting too much insulin. And I think you are a great job so you wouldn't miss a low. Take a look at Chyna's SS. Rachel kept on raising the dose to 5.5 with not a lot of action, then BAM, she's seeing mostly green now and on her way down.
It helps that we have a large country house. We created a large walk around the room trail. It is up at ceiling level and carpeted in the living room and goes all the way around. They use cat posts to come down and some rest there to. Mostly they like my bed because it has all the sunbeams in the morning! So our furniture and bed have covers on them. If folks come over I take them off if I know they are coming. I also have a great vacumm!
