Wow, that was some dive, Max, but then that AMPS was high for you.

Hope all is going okay, Elise.

Vines and prayers and :bighug:s.

He woke me an hour before amps and drank a lot of water. All that meowing I thought he would be low but he wasn't. He ate a little and threw it up. He kept his gelcap with his BP med and added ondansetron down and the baby food d. He ate a little around 9:30 and I left for a spin class. Maybe the dive was due to not eating as much. I think I will try fluids. When is the best time for it around fluids?

Fluids are an ECID thing. For Trix, the timing didn't matter much...no matter how far apart timewise I did fluids and insulin, her BG numbers tanked. For her, I had to do her insulin in her flank and fluids over her shoulder - in other words, I had to separate fluids and insulin on her body - to keep her BGs stable. But, not all kitties have that issue...so with Max, it'll be a bit of a trial and error.

I hope his tummy has settled by now!

Thanks Amy. I already give Max his fluids in his flank or tummy so hopefully he won't tank. I'm dreading this. :banghead::eek:

Sorry I can't help with that question as I haven't had to give either of my FD kitties fluids (ANTI-JINX).

I'm sorry to hear that he threw up. I hope he's feeling better. It's good that he kept his meds down. Sending healing and appy vines. I really dreaded fluids, too, but after a lot of experience with them, it wasn't so bad...o_O.

I gave them to Tiffany. It was hard at first and it took two of us. Eventually I was forced to go it alone. I've given them to Max when he first got pancreatitis so I know I can but I hate it. In this case I know once I start I won't stop this time.

:bighug::bighug::bighug:Yeah, I know it's a bummer when you think about the "forever" aspect...things will never be "the same" again. But, we've been doing fluids with Trix for almost 2 years now...while I can't believe it's been that long, at the same time, I think things would be much different if we weren't doing fluids all this time. So even though we know things will never be the same, at the same time, we are so fortunate to have the options that we now have to keep our babies feeling as good as possible, as long as possible.

Polly gets fluids when the evil "P" flares. I've always tried to fluid after nadir, but with Polly, nadir is pretty fluid in itself. Haven't really noticed a difference in her numbers, but then they tend to plummet with the "P" attacks anyway. Sorry. Not very helpful.

I've had easy-to-fluid cats (one at work would come sit on my lap when I hung the bag over the rocking chair); I've had hard-to-fluid cats (my Charlie who was a three person, twenty band-aide bully boy). Vines for an easy time with Max.

The cat I currently fluid, a friend's, is pretty good. Five minutes. Three times a week. And she's going on her second year as a stage 3 kidney kitty. Worth it. Very worth it.

Hope Max is tummy settled; hope all goes well.

And as always, Elise, vines.

Marilyn and Polly
