Yesterday's Almost Sane Day

Cinco is bound and determined to break me of the habit of sleeping late. DH was out running errands (one of which I'm sure is getting me something for Valentine's Day - he likes to plan ahead) first thing this morning and called me at +3.5 to say that Cinco was fairly low at PS and maybe I should test now. Of course, I got downstairs and did so and then wished he had called at +2 or 2.5! :eek: I was about to get up anyway, but I'm glad he called, as I would have dawdled a lot more. Cinco is enjoying the lagoon and appears to have no plans to get out any time soon. Started with 4%. Just gave him 5% and have 6% at the ready. I don't want to overcarb him as I'd like him to surf for a while - just a little higher, please!! :D

Minka did her usual thing of only eating half her breakfast before tummy meds. She just came down and was looking for food so I got her plate and she ate about half of what was left. Slowly but surely.... Sasha woke me at 7 something with that awful "Urk!" sound, so she got a quick trip to the floor where she retched but didn't actually produce anything. When I got up she headed straight for the dry food and started eating, so I gave her her breakfast, but she only ate a few bites. I gave her some Cerenia and will go offer more food in a minute. Harvey is still set on vacuum. Bless that Pred! I can't keep food on his plate.

Time to go check Cinco, and then I still have cleaning to do for tonight. Hope everyone is having a great Caturday.

Hey Cinco, you and Rooh have to get out of the 50's surf zone. It's got your beans on edge today. Just a little bit higher. Good catch today Tricia - at least Mark called before it was much later.

Sounds like the boys are hoovers and the girls are at least making the attempt at fuds. I hope you have a great Valentine's Day, and that Mark has another better sort of surprise for you. Enjoy the evening dinner.
 
You know, Cinco. I remember my 50's, barely. Good times. But that was age not glucose. So, Mister. Just a tad higher. Please.

Yay! We're out of the 50s! (well, some of us are). Thanks, Wendy and Marilyn. I like it when Cinco listens to his LL aunties. Lord knows he doesn't always listen to me!

I've been spot cleaning the carpets (a never ending job with four cats) in between testing. I do think it's about time to get out the steam cleaner and do the whole enchilada, but what a pain!

Yes, Marilyn - go Junior! Can't wait for racing to start again. It's been too long, but somehow I've managed to keep busy! :p:joyful:

ETA: forgot to mention that in my cleaning frenzy I managed to suck up not one but two of the kitty's mice (the toy kind)! Now I have to dig through the vacuum bag. Ick! I'm debating whether it's worth it. I mean, they have more toys than I do, and I have a lot!

It's good that Harvey gets the appy from pred. I had one that did but not for my lymphoma kitty. Have nice of Cinco to finally surf a better spot. Happy Valentine's Day.
 
Yea, pred being an appetite stimulant is a good side effect for some but not all. I had to give Tiffany cypro. Mirt made her meow constantly and didn't las more than a day and a half.
 
Cinco! I was happy to see you in the lagoon this morning, but you swam right past me and out into shark territory! You really should stay a little closer to shore ~ China

Beautiful cycle for Cinco today, I bet that got your attention at +3.75! :eek::D Healing and appy vines for Sasha and Minka. I find if I give Tiger Cerenia at least 2 hours before the AMPS mealtime, there is less chance of puking. Glad to hear pred is helping Harvey, bless his little heart! :bighug::bighug: happy VDay and have a great evening Tricia!
 
What a gorgeous surf - after the heart starter! Cinco clearly knew you had a lot to do and was doing his part to help you get going - what a good boy :D

Teeheehee on DHs planning in advance, made me think of that Simpsons episode when Homer forgot Valentines Day and had to sneak out and find something last minute - too funny!
 
Happy Valentine's Day, Rhiannon, Chris, Ruth and Serryn. Elise, I haven't gotten to try Cypro yet, but the Mirtz does well. I gave both girls some and they are now in search of China's water buffalo. I gave them a little less than 1/4 tablet. Sasha usually doesn't react much, but she is a little maniac right now. She's inhaled every bit of food she's seen and she can't seem to settle down. I double checked to make sure I didn't give her too much. Minka is a bit calmer but has also eaten everything in sight. She's currently chowing down on some treats I put out a couple of days ago that no one had touched. She doesn't usually eat treats!

Ruth, I give Sasha Cerenia two hours before a car ride and when she seems a little "off". I find it works better for her than Ondansetron. It didn't seem to make a difference today, hence the Mirtz.

DH did well. A dozen humongous roses in a lovely arrangement, a beautiful azalea tree for the front porch and a very pretty gold and silver bracelet. I think I'll keep him. ;)

We're all set for our company and just waiting for them to show up. Meat's on the grill and prerace show is on tv. Think I'll have an adult beverage and chill. Have a great evening, y'all!
 
Holy Guacamole! We rarely have company because most of our friends live in Sacramento, 50-60 miles away. So it was a bit of an upset in the cats' schedule tonight to have our friends for dinner and cards. Cinco just had to show off his diving skills as he performed a full nelson into the lagoon! :eek: To make matters worse, I discovered a hot spot under his right front leg when Kathy (the friend who catsits for us sometimes) saw him pulling out some fur. So I had to put a cone on him! :( Not a happy camper. I will call his vet at UCD on Tuesday to see if they want me to bring him in. I'm think going to try some of that hot spot spray I have in the cabinet to see if that helps, but the cone stays on at least until I talk to the vet. I tell you, it's always something!

Minka didn't want her dinner, even though she acted like she was starving. Two different flavors (one FF) were rejected. I finally got her to eat some Max Cat Venison. I wonder if there is something wrong with the can of Wellness Chicken & Herring I opened, as no one was excited about it. Even Cinco only ate one serving and walked away from the second one (he never does that). I think I will dump the rest of it.

Despite the kitty melodramatics (and Harvey begging at the table), we had fun with our friends and enjoyed watching the race together. DH is off to bed and I'm chilling and watching Cinco and ignoring the dirty dishes in the kitchen. Hope everyone is having/had a good Valentne's Day evening.
 
I'm concerned about wellness ....
I just bought two new flavors ( higher carb ) and one of them grew mold in it after being in the fridge for 1 day/night. That just doesn't seem right.....

Wow, @rhiannon and shadow. I haven't seen that, but lately I've been managing to get them to clean out a can in a day (it helps to have four cats). I only buy the lower carb grain free and Core. I have heard a few others lately have issues with Wellness, though.
