Hi Karen
Back in 1/30 and 2/1
On 1/31 we started antibiotics, Willow was having a really hard time breathing and coughing really bad with fluid in her chest , her food was BFF. If you look at her SS starting around 1/15 we started to notice her going into the green.
From there we had to reduce her from 2iu twice a day to 1iu twice a day in a short time or she would have ended up dead. Her coughing at this point was the worst it had been. I took her to the vet on 1/30 where we were given antibiotics and told to switch food, I did not want to switch her food right away because I knew the nightmare it is going to cause with trying to find the correct amount of insulin to give her. Our LC fancy feast acted more like MC with her compared to the BFF.
We asked the vet about the sudden big drops in her BG, was her bean starting to work? The vet said it could be because she is eating less food. This could have been from her coughing and Willow was no longer eating the same amount of food everyday.
We also ran out of syringes with 1/2 markers and not one pharmacy around us has them. We ordered 400 that should be here on Friday. We currently have 400 syringes that do not have the 1/2 iu mark. Trying to do a 1/2 or a 1/4 iu with these is next to impossible and is just guessing.
Food and insulin goes hand and hand. Willow does not eat all of her food at once, she will graze and this in itself is a major problem because our other cats will eat all of her food.
One other major with Willow was she had keystones in the past so we need to make sure her BG stays in a safe zone.
Hope this is more information for you to see where I'm at.
It is extremely frustrating switching food with her. I was able to prove that the fancy feast we buy in the store compared to the online acts differently with Willow. The online one made her BG jump 200. I even contacted the manufacturer to see why this is happening. Was the online counterfeit? Being stored incorrectly? Rejects? Because people lie and numbers don't. We were told they had no ideal why this could be happening. I emailed them my SS where I had been tracking the two foods.
Well need to run to work
