Well, Miss China's diabetes is well under control!!...Wish I could say the same about her mama's!!

Had bloodwork done last week and went in today to get the results and everything was great except my A1C which was 6.5...so I'm "officially" diabetic.....I've been "pre-diabetic" for several years

We're not going to start any meds yet though.....going to retest in 6 months and see if it comes back down (will have to remember to watch what I eat for those several weeks before I go back!)

Silliest thing though....my fasting glucose was 105 which is fine, but the A1C says it's not so fine.....oh well....guess I'll start checking my own BG every once in awhile when I test Chinas!

Would be kind of crazy to have her BG better than mine!!

I really want to avoid the meds they're using these days....I've heard too many horror stories from people who've taken them about some of the side effects they've had to suffer through. Last thing I need is more aches and pains!!

Hope you're all having a better Monday and your kitties are being good!!

Looking good China!

Im sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Upside is, you know how the disease works. Humans have such vast options when it comes to this. Sending vines your way!!!!

What nice numbers for China!! Chris, I've been a diabetic for abut 5 or 6 years now. I've been taking Metformin. Started out with 500 mg twice a day and now I'm up to 1000 mg twice a day. Haven't had any adverse side effects. The only thing is, I'm bad about waiting too long to eat sometimes. Not a breakfast person. Sometimes, not always, if I wait too long to eat, I get stomach cramps. They go away after I eat. I'm bad about my diet though and I know it, so my A1C was over 7 the last time. They want me to start taking Farxiga along with the Metformin, but I don't want to take it. Don't like the possible side effects. So, I'm trying to check my BG more often and watch what I eat a little more.

Just wanted to let you know in case they do need to put you on something. I've been ok with the Metformin. Hopefully, your recheck in 6 months will be good and this will all be moot!!

Sorry to hear about the diabetes Dx. My thought was the same as Ella's, hope you can be diet controlled. Maybe a raw diet for you? :p

I once compared Neko's SS to that of a friend who had become diabetic after a pancreatis attack, and Neko's was better than hers. Which says something cause her numbers were no where near as good as China's.

Show momma how it's done China.:D

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis Chris! I will pray for you for improvements and healing for your body! I have had chronic health issues myself so I know the challenge that can be, but I do believe in healing for myself too, just have to keep the faith! Diet certainly has played a big role for me too. So great China is doing well!! Tinka is having a pretty good week too since reducing the steroids. Much more herself, playing and happy. Makes mama happy, its so worth all the effort to see our furballs happy. Here's hoping for good health for all us mama's and papa's too!

Yeah I told the vet I had plenty of glucometers around here
So you were diagnosed by a vet?

Actually, diabetes is no laughing matter, as we all know too well. I'm sorry you got the dx, Chris, and I hope you will be able to keep it under control without drugs or insulin. It is comforting to read of Donna's experience, though, if it comes to that.

Guess you and China need to exercise together more, eh? Maybe she'll take turns holding the laser for you to chase. ;):p

Meanwhile, she's sure showing off today! :D
Mama, my BG is better than yours! :cat:

You were the only one who noticed that!!
I have this annoying habit of catching typos and grammatical mistakes, etc., in everything I read (which doesn't mean I don't make them myself). Probably because part of my job in my early office work days was proofreading. To this day, it drives me nuts to find errors in newspaper or magazine articles, on signs or other print media.

I sure appreciated the chuckle you gave me! ;) (and it was definitely an error I could have easily made)
