We found out what happens when batteries go low on an aviva nano. It stops working! No warning. Just no testing. And no back up meter/strips. Thankfully I happened to have batteries that fit on hand. What are the odds! ??? I was wavering between do I shoot or don't I. All is good.

Today I'm spending my time reading up on home made renal diets for my CHF dog. I will have to go out and get ingredients too. My brain cells will not allow as many visits as normal. I will do my best. My dog isn't eating a thing this morning. I hear baytril is worse than clavamox. Not sure what we are going to do. I have posts into the k9 kidney and CHF groups for advice.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Hi Karrie! Great amps for Maverick. hear you on the meter and the battery thing - ran into that with mine too. No warning, it just stopped working. sheshhhh!

Good luck with your research. I am clueless on that one....I hope all goes well for your dog. positive thoughts from mannie and me.

Hi Karrie; no worries about visiting condos. You need to spend time researching renal diets for your dog. I'm sorry to hear he's not eating, and I hope you learn some things to help your dog from the group. I'm glad to see Maverick doing so well. Bummer on the meter but great you have a battery. I bought a battery, too, just in case mine dies on me. Keep us posted.

Great AMPS ofr Maverick and good for you that you found new batteries that work with the meter! Yay!
That could have been a panic time around here for me. You did a great job!
Sending healing vines for your doggie...hope you can get the answers you need Karrie...

I'm sending healing vines for your dog, Karrie. I belonged to the K9 Kidney group several years ago. I hope they can help you. I know that dogs can take Calcitriol because there are some on my Calcitriol group. You might talk to your vet about that. We also had our dog on Rehmannia 8, although I don't know if it helped. I hope you can get him to eat soon.

Nice amps for Maverick! I'm waiting for the next trial to start. :RAHCAT

Hi Karrie, I hope that your dog will be feeling better soon.
Did you know that you can prolong the life of a failing battery by rubbing it with a pencil eraser? It really works and would give you time to go out and buy a new one.
Really nice amps for Maverick today.

Good luck today with finding the ingredients.

Maverick sure is looking good today and Karrie, I hope you get some answers to your renal questions. Sending healing vines.

Ella, where did you ever get the idea about the pencil eraser and prolonging a battery's life? You must be the next Hints from Heloise! I am definitely going to try that tip.

Great amps however you got it!!! That's why I have 6 or 7 meters!!--Some I got for free, couple I bought..
and Batteries for my accu check aviva -It has happened to me, so I understand completely...
Hope your Doggie feels much better!! Hugs from us!

Ella knows all!!! :)

Maverick continues to look great, Karrie... you must be so pleased! Glad you were able to get a battery to work! I got one of the free after rebate CVS meters with 25 strips that I keep as my emergency backup (I also have some relion strips from when I switched to the Advocate) in case anything happens to my main meter.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!
