My Truetrack requires too much blood so I want to get a new meter. From this link:

Freestyle Freedom Lite and Contour Next got high marks (my Truetrack scored poorly). Any thoughts on either of these meters? Any thoughts on other meters??? I would appreciate any advice, there are too many choices, it is overwhelming me.

Edit: I just noticed the strips for the Freestyle Freedom Lite are EXPENSIVE. Ay yi yi. Maybe next on list is True Metrix...

You want a meter that requires a smaller drop of blood and cheap strips. The second link in that post has a list of the popular meters with that information. Funnily enough, I just updated that link to the latest year today. :p I know many people here get the Relion Prime due to test strip cost.

I have the Contour Next One and I am happy with it. I buy the test strips on ebay for about $15 for 50 strips. It connects to an app on my phone so I can look up the numbers later. If I don't get enough blood the first time, the meter beeps and gives me another 60 seconds to poke again so I waste fewer strips.

I noticed a lot of the strip costs listed are not very accurate. Do you have a more recent consumer report review? I ended up getting the True Metrix. Looking at Katherine's post above, maybe I should have ordered a Contour. I keep forgetting to check the notifications box before submitting a post, I wish it was set to notify as a default.

Someone recently checked with Consumer Reports, and at that time, there was no newer report on BG meters. Nothing wrong with having a backup meter of a second type, other than having to keep a different type of strips on hand.
