Hi everyone,
Sid had a little bit of a rough night last night. He seemed pretty lethargic. Today he perked up a bit and even chased the laser light - very briefly, but still.
I also updated more of his SS. I noticed that he doesn't start coming down until +3 to +4 on the Prozinc so I posted a question to that group about using a bit of R to bring him down to figure out exactly what time I should give him some. I have been giving Sid R pretty regularly in addition to the Prozinc - I know to be very careful with it, but I noticed that it only brings his numbers down for 2 hours and that is it. I give him a super small amount. today he probably could have used a bit more because he stayed in the 400s until PMPS +4. He is pretty funny because he likes that Max Cal and has eaten a fair amount of it on his own. I did put some in his tube this morning after straining it thanks to Karrie's advice.

I apologize if I've missed answering some questions. Desi asked if he is getting B-12 - yes, he is. I did update his profile finally for the meds he is on too. Linda asked if he had black stool to indicate possible internal bleeding (causing the anemia) - no he does not. His stool is liquid diarrhea though and we started on metronidazole for that.

I put boxes around the bottom of my bed to prevent Sid from hiding under there. Civvie Ben has been spending his time having a grand old time chewing on the boxes, spitting out pieces of cardboard all over the carpet, and completely getting the boxes in disarray so if Sid wanted to get under the bed, he very easily could. Ben pulls them away from the bed and turns them upside down and sideways. Sid hasn't really tried to get under the bed lately; he's been sleeping on the couch or hiding on the cat tree.

Hi, Siddie!!!!!!

playing with the lazer lite and liking his Max Cal...GOOD NEWS!!!!!!

And     at Ben...

lovies & continued healing vine from my whole clan
(who are all parked on the couch reading condos  )

Vyktor used to love cardboard boxes too. At one stage I spent ages making him a big construction of about 10 cardboard boxes variously linked together with cardboard tubes. I spent so much time on it and was so pleased with my engineering skills. Of course in true cat style Vyktor decided he wasn't interested in it at all

Pink is better than red, or that nasty black, but I hope you get some help with working out the R and get him down a floor or two.

Many kisses for you Sid, you eat your foods and get better you hear!

Karrie does give great advice. She sure helped us out with Zener, syringe feeding, meds, and everything else. :-D :-D Definitely a good sign that Sid played with his laser. Pink is progress! We know how that feels. Hope he keeps coming on down.

Glad to hear he perked up a bit today!

I don't know anything about Prozinc, however I have experience using R.

It's a feel you way through kind of thing in terms of how much and at what numbers. you start low and collect the data on it's effects.
Increase in small (0.25u) increments and see what difference it makes.

In terms of timing there are 2 important things to remember:
- don't shoot it if kitty is breaking a bounce
- Take care that the R nadir doesn't' coincide with the Prozinc nadir.

It makes me happy to hear that Sid is eating and playing, even a little bit, and in pink! Thank you, Lydia, for taking such wonderful care of him. I'm sure you will get good advice from others in addition to Karrie and Sandy on food and meds.

I love that the box in the pic reads, "Multi-Use." I think Ben would agree.

Hi Lydia & Sid,
Just getting caught up on all the condos I missed yesterday. It is good to read that Sid played with the light and that he is no longer "HI", but only pink (not even red). Yay Sid! I hope that today (Sunday) will bring a continuation of this good trend and that Sid will keep on enjoying his Max Cal.

Lots of hugs and healing vines for today,

Ella & Rusty

So glad to hear Sid is eating on his own and interested in playing, even if it's only for a little bit. When Tawny was so ill I remember being ecstatic the 1st time she was even remotely interested in a toy. When she started batting at her civvie brothers I would have done cartwheels were I not 54!

Has he put on any weight? When Tawny went from 8.9 pounds to 9.2 pounds even her vets were ecstatic. She is back up to her healthy weight right now, 12 pounds.

Every little tiny thing is progress Lydia, even pink when his #s have been so much higher, it means Sid wants to and is getting better.

You both continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Desi,

He has not really put on any weight. He's been having some bad diarrhea that's being treated and that might be influencing the weight gain. He is eating both the max cal and regular Friskies on his own. I'm just trying to keep track of this so I know how much he is eating exactly.

A good report considering all Sid is dealing with. You and Sid are in my thoughts each day. Treasure every minute.

The picture and Ben narrative made me laugh out loud. Go Ben LOL.
