This seems to kind of be a pattern for us (or maybe I'm reaching) but after a really good day, we get a higher, flatter day. Based on that past experience, I'm going to stick with the .4 for at least a few more cycles to see if we get any settling.

Okay, this may sound really crazy. And it is why we do peer review by posting our ideas on line so others can comment.

I have been wondering if he is reacting so weirdly to the insulin because he doesn't need it. It is an odd way to go off the juice, but then Sam is an odd kitty. I wonder if you could go for a cycle without any insulin and see what happens. One of my concerns with doing this is that he has been ketone prone, so you would want to test every time he pees. And you would be testing alot and limit the "experiment" to a short time.

What do other people think?

Oh my gosh, Sue - I swear to you I've been thinking the same thing, but it sounded so crazy to me that I didn't want to talk about it. I'd love to hear what others think.

Actually I was thinking the same thing.

Yesterday Joanna suggested to drop to .3u.

With the ketones maybe you could drop your dose by .1u every few days or until he climbs higher again until he's poof off. I actually typed this out yesterday and then erased it.

You got 1 good day with the drop to .5u, two good days with the drop to .4u, see the pattern?

Or maybe .2? You can wait for other opinions and figure majority rules, then factor in your gut.

Regardless, plan on a curve and lots of ketone tests.

+9 is 295.

My plan for tonight's shot is to stay at .4, then start with .3 tomorrow morning. I'd do the .3 tonight, but I want to be able to check his bg. Let the adventure begin!

Too funny. At least we're all on the same page.

Actually .2u will tell you if we're right or not faster. Paws crossed we're right.

Either way, you hold the syringe and we will support your decision.
