Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night sleeping between his beans. He only ate about half of his nighttime food because he was too busy sleeping. But this morning he has eaten all of his breakfast. And we had our combing. He's a happy cat.
We all went btb this morning: it was cold and yesterday's snowshoe hike (our first of the year owing to my injury) tired us out, even though it was only 4 miles!! My hamstring is not too bad this morning (I expected much worse). In fact, it almost feels good (tart-cherry juice working?). But I'm not going to press it and go out on the trails again today. Grocery shopping instead.

We found the tuberculous documentary on PBS very interesting. It had some great shots of the Adirondacks, too. One of the writers who provided commentary was Andrea Barrett, who writes beautifully. Her novella "The Cure" (in a collection of short stories titled "Servants of the Map") and her novel "The Air We Breathe" are especially evocative of Saranac Lake in the early 20th century.

Here's a pic I took on our hike at the VIC yesterday, a view of the Herron Marsh:

Wow...that s a stunning picture (I can actually FEEL how cold it is o_O....brrr!). I'm glad your hamstring did well yesterday!

Rusty is looking good this morning....next stop, the lagoon :D! Have a great day, Ella!

Awwww...who can think about eating when there's good snuggles happening between ma and pa??

YEAH! on the successful hike...and even better that you're not suffering for it today! Whether it's the tart cherry juice or not, it's great that you're not too sore. Working up slowly is the way to go!

Very cool picture..in more ways than one! It's almost spooky looking, but I agree that it also captures "cold" really well!

Surf safe Rusty!!

Rusty feels good and is happy! What a great WCR, and look at those :D !

We recorded the PBS special and will watch it tonight. We have visited several former TB sanatoriums without knowing they were there - one was in Mammoth Cave Kentucky, where the thoughts at the time were the dark, cold and damp would help, and the other was in what is now a state park outside of Las Cruces New Mexico, when thoughts changed to sun, warm and dry weather was the answer.

Keep on meistering Rusty!

Anne

Glad to hear your hamstring's holding up. What a boring day grocery shopping compared to yesterday, maybe Rusty will spice it up for you!

The LagoonMeister is busy in the lagoon. I got 3 bottles of tart cherry juice in the supermarket and saved $2.00 per bottle!! I also found cans of Newman's Own 95% chicken and chicken liver and 95% Turkey. I've never seen these particular Newman's Own organic foods before. I e -mailed the company for the carb percentage. And I bought one of each to try.

We may go snowshoeing again tomorrow, before the weather is supposed to get really frigid for the weekend. The high on Sat., when the Ice Carnival parade takes place, is supposed to be 10. The high on Sunday is expected to be -8!!!
I hope it will warm up by mid-week, when we take Rusty to the specialist in Vermont for his ultrasound (his belly will have to be shaved).

Everyone have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

@Anne & Zener (GA) : the TB documentary also features several western cure spots, including Los Angeles, which proved to be a debacle.

What a moody image- great picture! And what a beautiful cycle for Rusty today! :D:D I love how you say he sleeps between the beans! At our house, Tiger shoves one of us off the bed because she insists on sleeping horizontally and it's usually me that has to go to the couch. Glad your hamstring feels good enough to go tomorrow- I think I mentioned before my neighbors swear by tart cherry juice! have a great evening Ella!

Much warmer in the lagoon than outside at your place Rusty! ~Neko

What a lovely photo from the snowshoe. It's great news that you feel up to doing another one tomorrow! I'd like to find a good cheap source for cherry juice. It was a special drink in Turkey and I quite liked it when we traveled there.

Yes, a soft intensity in that photo. Great shot. Thanks for sharing.

Nice numbers day today Sir Rusty.

Glad your snowshoeing went well without any significant repercussions! Tart cherry juice. Sure could be.

Have a cozy evening.
