Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night. This morning's number looks like a continuation of the little bounce he started last night a bedtime. We'll see where he is in a few minutes when we do the noontime test. His morning routine went well and at present he is lounging in his perch above the radiator, watching the sun shine on the snow.

I finally caught a curling match on tv, but must admit to being baffled by the game. I will have to do some reading so that I know what the LL Sliders Curling Club is up to! Rusty watched the match, too. Of course he knows all about it. He's Skip of the Yellow Team this morning.

My knee was bad when I got up this morning, but feels much better now. I still don't want to do anything on it. I'm going to give it another day before seeking professional help. (I really don't want to go to the Urgent Care or to the hospital: too many sick people there!!) The next mountain climb is on Saturday. I'm thinking that at this point I won't be able to do it, but who knows?

Wishing you all a good day. Sending healing vines to all who need some,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Here's a pic taken on the summit of Ampesand Mt. (before my knee accident) (that's me, in the blue parka)

Re: 2/11 Rusty AMPS 227

I hope Rusty clears the bounce today. I'm glad your knee is feeling better. I know what you mean about not wanting to go to Urgent Care, but you may need to.

Re: 2/11 Rusty AMPS 227

OMGosh your poor knee!! I swear it is never the head or heart that wants to stop doing good fun things it is the body!

Wishing you tons of knee healing vines since Rusty seems to be doing so good you can have his too!

Curling is much like shuffle board on ice. Same idea of scoring and knocking your opponent off the board. It is fun to watch great players.

I prefer the hockey and skiing and luge and well I guess I like all the winter sports!

Love the picture, but then I love snow!

Rusty looks like he's clearing the bounce, slowly but surely, which I think is a good thing - don't want to go too fast and cause another bounce.

Sending healing vines for that knee.

Well come on down Rusty! You are in the blue now.

The curling confuses the heck out of me and I don't have the patience to figure it out. Healing vines for your knee. Ouch! I hear you on not wanting to go to Urgent Care. If you don't walk in sick, you will be by the time you leave.

Love love love the pic! How beautiful. Have a great day Ella!

Bootiful Sir Rusty as usual!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE curling but they only showed a itty bitty bit of it - and I MISSED IT! DH caught the last hour while I was shopping yesterday. We could sit and watch those matches for hours! There's not really much to understand - closest wins sort of like horseshoes and yes, like shuffleboard. There's 8 stones per team per 'end' (quarter in football, inning in baseball) - most play is 10 ends but some play 8 ends. The sweeps are smoothing the ice in front of the rock trying to lay down a good surface in front of the slide - a good sweep can move that stone all over the 'sheet' (ice) and never touch it.

Now you've had your curling lesson for the day....:)))

HUGS! Hope your leg gets better, that stinks!

Ella, I would be happy if I could make it to the end of the driveway wearing all of that gear, let alone to the top of a mountain and back.

Keep on sliding Rusty. Or we'll have to have a kitty outing to the Whistler Sliding Centre. I was watching ski slope style last night but had to switch back to curling because my body was just hurting watching the skiers crash and keep on skiing.

Healing vines for the knee. Any chance of a regular doctor visit? You can get off the shelf supports that prevent knee twisting and I found those helped (MCL strain).

Nice flat blue rest day for Rusty. Rest day for me, too. I have determined that I have an MCL injury (probably a sprain) and will go to Urgent Care tomorrow to see how bad it looks. (Our Urgent Care facility--unlike the hospital--is never very crowded, and since we are in a major winter sports area, it has good diagnostic machines.) In the meantime I think I must forget about climbing mountains until it is better. I'll have to do the 2 remaining peaks next winter. Bummer! Even x-c skiing may not be the best thing to do. Double bummer!! I'll be stuck on my exercise machines.

I don't understand how scoring is done in curling. I can see that there are very subtle skills involved in the placement of the stones.

Hi Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

I see Rusty is heading up the Blue Curling Team today. not too bad... Fairly even today. Good job Rusty! You off to eh lagoon tomorrow?

I am sorry about your knee. I too think that if it is not better by tomorrow then I would seek some help. The urgent care care there sounds like they will be able to do a good diagnostics. I remember back when I broke my ankle 2007 (??) I think. I thought at the time that it was a bad sprain, and was determined to wait it out. I finally went in only to discover that I had a hair line ankle fracture, the bone was misaligned too with the joint, and the shock of the ankle break had traveled up the leg bone, only to make another break below the knee. Not that I wish any of that on you.... but point being that I was ever so glad I went in. I dread to think what would have happened if I had not gotten the proper diagnostic, if I had walked on that leg/ankle when the swelling and pain subsided, as the fracture did not hurt, it was the sprain that did. A friend of mine had a MCL injury when she went hiking in the Dolomites. She too had to take some time off, to let it all heal, but now she's back in top hiking form. So.... I will be thinking of you, and hope that all will be well. GOOD LUCK!!! At least this way you will know for sure the extent of the injury. you take care. :-D I am too sorry about having to postpone the two remaining hikes, and teh CC-ski. what a bummer....

I need to watch some of this curling! It sounds fascinating!

Wow, Rusty's flat blue day meant business. He's had his bedtime snacks and treats; and his nighttime foods and treats are waiting for him to come upstairs. I think he's checking out the lagoon to see who is surfing tonight.

My knee feels pretty good tonight, but I'm definitely going to get it checked out tomorrow. I downloaded a good article (with various exercises to do during the healing process). Apparently I will be able to do anything that is "straight line" (not twisting). So x-c skiing is out (because I'm not a particularly good skier and I fall), and probably snowshoeing, too (except maybe on easy trails), but I will be able to walk, work out on the rowing machine, and ride my bike, which is up on the trainer. Anything will be better than sitting around.

Thanks for visiting us,

Ella & Rusty

Rusty, are you going to keep China company tonight? She's surfing the lagoon, too. Well, your mama bean has to stay off her toes for a while, so you keep it safe, okay?

Hope you get good news when you see the doctors tomorrow, Ella. Sending healing vines!
