Did you ever get an update on the food cut off for tonight for a diabetic? Hows the weather forecast looking?
 
OK... just talked to them. They said he should get his regular dose tonight; no food after about 2 am if possible but if I need to give a little bit to manage his BG that's ok. He doesn't have to have a totally empty stomach. In the morning (no breakfast) they'll check his BG right when he comes in and he'll get his insulin then, but likely a half dose. It's an 8:30 appointment so hopefully that means he'll be getting it by 9:30 or so. I can deal with shifting the time back over the next couple of days. The latest he would be released is about 7 pm and it's an hour and a half to get home, so it's possible his evening shot would be a bit late anyways.

Forecast looks fine, thankfully. Just cold. She also mentioned that there's a Hampton Inn nearby that has day rates... I could spend the day there instead of in my truck in the parking lot. Sounds much nicer.
 
Those instructions sound much better. I was told just to let them know if there was any food given. I'd be tempted to take the insulin and syringes with you, and give them a syringe with the half dose in it. And honestly, with a larger depot, a skip isn't the worst thing that could happen. As you've just seen, it doesn't take him long to get back to business.

I vote the Hampton Inn too!
 
Turns out the hotel doesn't have day rates (and neither do the other ones nearby), but the regular rates aren't awful, so I actually just booked it for two nights. Totally worth it. So now I can just focus on getting stuff assembled to take with me in the morning.
 
Yeah, but it may mean a dive tomorrow morning. We'll see. I'll keep you all posted. I'll be hanging out in a hotel room with nothing else to do except a mountain of work...
