Oooh I remember how to link. Went btw after AM test/feed/shoot. I am not use to being up so early. But it could be good thing as I will get more stuff done now.

This lady can eat I will have to get 2nd chewy order delivered. Will see if we can weigh her, trim nails, brushed, and get spot treatment done. Right now she is exploring the kitchen growling as she walks around.

Does everyone think I can just leave the freeze dried raw complete nibblets down for her snacking pleasure until she isn't in starvation mode? The others don't touch it.

Why not! She didn't have anything to eat yesterday on the transport.
Have a great day of adjustment, Paula. (I replied to your previous post just a minute ago: didn't see this condo.).
I'm so glad that Love is home!

Right now, she believes she has to be in survival mode. She has no clue when or where her next meal is coming from or wtf might happen next. Every stray I've ever scooped up and brought home has scarfed food. Leaving nibblets out will help.

Weight is 9.2 lbs. I can't believe that. My 8 lber feels heavier. Going to order Zobaline, her legs are wobbling. Foster mom sent me message and is glad we got her when we did. She didn't think Love was doing well at all. The med records that came only have the one weight and the vaccinations for December probably her 1st visit, then the one glucose in January when dx. That is it.

I made her appt with the doc I like but it isn't until March 15. The other doc who I saw when right out of school and seemed intimidated by cats has now gained her confidence according to the office manager (who privately told me she switched her pets to her). She said she is extremely thorough and she graduated from Cornell Veterinary College. I'm wondering if I should give it a chance as I can get in earlier to see her.

I feel like I know nothing anymore.

It will take Love a while to realize she is in a safe place, but she will. I'd definitely leave the food out for her to nibble on. :bighug::bighug:

Cornell is one of the top vet schools in the world, and this vet is fresh out of training, so probably completely up to date on the latest procedures. If I were searching vets for the first time, I'd choose her.

However, the fact that you already have a good relationship with your present vet, and you think the new vet may have some problems relating to cats, well, xounds like a toss up. I'd go with my gut in this one, and if that didn't work, I'd flip a coin.

Even though I became quite disillusioned when seeking new vet help for Azalea (3 vets in fact) while my long time reg vet was going through some stuff, my hunch is for Love to have a check up etc sooner rather than later. You could keep the March 15 appt with your trusty vet but get her seen by the new one (whom techs indicate has been improving) asap sooner for check up, labs etc.

Hope you have a great first day with Love!
Do you have any idea how old she is?
How was she when you tested BG this morning?

There was a post that said between 8-9 yrs not aged by vet, who I don't know. The limited vet record (card with vaccs checked off that were given) says 5 yrs.

She isn't to bad with testing. Moves the head lot, thinks the equip is food but doesn't bite or swat at you. Tries to get away and growls the whole time. Just now I put her up on the table with the treat bag in front of her, that kept her interest. She is trainable.

I can't wait to see the transformation! I agree with leaving nibbles out and also keeping your March appointment and giving a shot at getting in sooner with the other vet to get bloodwork sooner as well as give her another chance. :cat:

Hi again,
Linda (@Linda and Bear Man ) is a vet tech. We were just discussing your concern about having to wait until March to see your own vet. Linda thinks that if you have any concerns at all about Love's health, you should see the Cornell vet soon. She emphasizes that when getting a new cat it is a good idea to have her checked out right away.
As others have said, you can always keep your March appointment if your visit to the Cornell vet doesn't feel right. Whatever you do, keep in mind that vets are trained to spot problems and know what tests to use.

Love sure looks like there is a lot of Maine Coon Cat in her genes! How neat! Rusty approves!

I would vote for getting her in and getting a check up, blood work done right away. You can always have the preferred vet for on going care.

Excited to hear how Love blossoms under your care.

I agree, I will call vet in the morning. I was looking for original post to check a few things I thought I read. She wasn't tested for FIV or Felv so I want those done. It doesn't look like any dewormer was done. But no diarrhea today.

It's been a little over 2 yrs since I first saw this Cornell graduate, so I imagine she has her confidence now. I know when Smokey was sick she wasn't comfortable treating him with all his issues. She told me to go to ER instead.

Will be interesting to see what her thoughts are regarding FD. I know the ER was nuts in how they treat it.
