Good morning,

Happy to see a yellow this morning. All is normal here, test was good, had breffis and meds, lots of presents in the LB. kitties have gone BTB.

Wish I could figure out if Zeus really has been HI or if there was a problem with the strips or meter. I did notice a weird smell with the strip last night, I don't know that I have ever smelled them before so I don't know if that had anything to do with the HI or not; but there was a strong yucky smell with the strip this morning and we got a 236. I know I am just grasping here, but I am an analytical person so I have a need to know why and how. :lol:

More shoveling to do today, but it is below zero so I don't know how long I will be out. I don't have much left to do, just a path to the oil tank I think. We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow, but I don't think it is supposed to be as bad or as much snow.

A much better start for Zeus today - sunny yellow! It could be on the strip - maybe it was a bad one. I've had that happen before. I can't remember, but did you retest when you got that HI? I try to , if I get a number that just doesn't seem right. Sometimes it is the strip sometimes it is just Mannie throwing me a curve ball. :roll: Me too on the wanting to know why....

Hi Kathie,

I was thinking about you during the Blizzard. Snow shoveling is lots of fun, yes? You are lucky that you didn't lose power.

Bummer on the test strips that smell weird. Can you return the batch? It's worth a try. (Do you have another box? If so, try using those strips and see if you get similar results.)

Cold here today, too (temp. is up to +1 at the moment). We just got an oil delivery this morning, so we are glad we shoveled a path to the pipe yesterday. Those guys have a hard enough time in the cold without having to wade through deep snow.

Hi Michelle, yes. I retested each HI number, and also tested myself a couple of times (mine were normal) and used my backup meter as well. The backup meter read numbers in the high 200's up to high 300's.

Hi Ella, we didn't lose power at all, not even a light flickering, thank goodness :smile: I did call the test strip company to see if they might have had a problem with that batch of strips. She says no, and that there is no way to have a bad strip... They QC everything, blah blah blah, LOL. She is going to send me some control solution, and " I should call back if I continue to have problems so that they can troubleshoot." It's funny whenever I call to question something it sounds like they are just reading answers from a book. :lol:

Glad you made it through the storm without any problems. I hope you can figure out if you have bad test strips or not. I've wondered that before when I've had strange results or kept getting low blood errors. I hope Zeus slides down to blue for you today.

Morning guys that is strange about the weird smell on the strips! Hmmm don't know what to say on that. My parents in RI got pounded with the snow over 2 feet. Good luck with the shoveling today. Hope you have a great Sunday and you see some good numbers!
 
Happy to see a blue tonight, but I gave Zeus a little increase anyway. This morning was the 9th cycle of the last increase, and not very many good numbers. I hope this will get him back on track... Fingers crossed.
