We have a BLUE number!!!!!
So talked to vet and hubby about our course of action. Blood and urine results came back. Our lypase was back up over 2100. Thyroid I didn't get a number but it was in the normal range but not much out either, she said it was in a gray area. She said with everything we have going on, she doesn't feel the number is indicating a thyroid issue. The lypase doesn't really mean anything in particular, other than it being high is what lead us to the liver disease and pancreatitis. The ursodiol had kept that down so we may need to go back to twice a day for that.
Vet talked about Lev, but wants to exaust our scale with Lantus first since she would start the Lev dose low. We discussed the going to the U again and what that would do for us and what treatment alternatives that would give us outside what we are doing now. It sounds like mainly what she thinks we would find there is if we are dealing with something like pancreatic cancer or some other cancer or tumor that is making the insulin not work. She doesn't believe that the IAA or acro cat tests are useful at this point as she doesn't believe Smokey has either condition. I am all for ruling everything out I can, but I have decided getting them done won't change our course of treatment. I don't believe she is acro,I just don't see the signs. If she is IAA, we will be more agressively adjusting her dose anyway and we are not able to monitor her closely enough to try adding in a short acting insulin so having that test won't change our short term treatment any way.
Hubby and I decided we will try a more agressive approach to the adjusting the dose until the end of February, adjusting after 3 days (6 cycles) unless her numbers are low enough to say we hold for another day or two. At the end of Feb we will be up to 7U, if that hasn't produced any signifant change, we will schedule with the U.
