Thanks ladies. +2 was 167 so it's dropped a bit...I was hoping to give her ears a break today and just do a +6, feed a mini meal at +3...not sure what to do now. I guess a +4 is in order and feed then or right now. Back to work tomorrow so I won't be here for that

167 isn't a whole lot lower than the 182. I'd get a +4 since you can, so you can see what she does. It might ease your mind for the weekdays.

im still very new to fd so i have no advise to give, but i do know testing as much as we feel bad for our lil kitties ears its the best way to know how to help them.
if you click edit on your first post and add the question in the subject line someone will be able to advise on when to test again and when to feed.

I know, her ears are so sensitive though it seems. I'm making them itchy I've been using a little vaseline every time I do it...maybe I'll post a topic in the main board asking what everyone does for their kitties ears lol. I tried smaller lancets 30G, but ended up having to poke a whole lot more to get blood as opposed to once with the 28G. I did a mini meal now and will test at +4

so again im new and can only say what has helped me and ruben (you might already know a lot of these but can't hurt to say it again if not)- dc approved treats for rewards, neosporin (pain relieve) < ask someone which one exactly, using the rice sock to warm the ear (fill sock w/ rice knot and microwave about 20sec- make sure not to hot for kitty< that one was big for lil ruben, another big thing i learned is i was so stressed and anxious for the blood i would poke and if i didn't see blood poke again. be patient, ruben takes a few seconds before any blood shows and if it's only a lil blood i sqeeze and massage the ear to pull the blood to that area. apply pressure when done and apply pain relief neosprin and give treat. I also let ruben smell everything before i use it. so he knows what's coming at him. you tube has some good video's on it.

Yes, thank you, I do most of that too but it doesn't hurt to repeat them as everyone has different ways and some of them end up being better than what I was doing, lol. It was super frustrating at first, and my hands would shake so I couldn't get the blood on the strip once I did finally get some. She didn't like the warming part, so I use a heat lamp that she likes to sit under (a trick a guy online mentioned) while we do everything and I massage her ear first for a few seconds And a treat after we finish putting pressure on with cotton balls I may have to try the neosporin instead of vaseline, I was worried that she'd lick it off and get sick so i'll have to find out what kind is ok.
I watched a ton of videos online when I first started this for both injections and ear pokes, and some of the kitties were not so happy as my sweet Chyna, I am lucky to not have a fighter/biter! She doesn't like the inside of the ear done though, so I do the back of the ears. The injections she would cry everytime for the first two or three weeks as she didn't have a lot of scruff anywhere and her skin was sensitive, and then I would cry. Now she purrs through it, even sits down for me, though it's not her favorite activity she knows it's time to eat then. How's your kitty today? Hope he is doing well. Mine has decided to just sleep on the bed that we do the ear pokes on, as I keep putting her on it anyways she gave up :lol:

ruben is a gift to me everyday. he is doing better, < no jinx-it was rough there for a while.
im lucky, ruben is good with testing, def better at it than i am. never thought of doing the back of the ear. i was worried about the neosporin too and i would double check, but im pretty sure if its only a lil bit it shouldn't be super hamful. ruben was so sick that if i caught him grooming i was so excited i didnt care if he got neosporin in him. :smile:

I put it back together with a new battery and set the timer and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. So I may have a trip to Petsmart tomorrow to look at feeders (now that I know they have them, they didn't when I ordered the one I have online) hoping the prices aren't too exuberant!

Don't worry....we all give fur shots at one time or another. I'd still get a +2 or before bed just to be sure because sometimes you get more in them than you realize.
