Interesting day. Bell decided today was a big slide... She did give me a break on my first day back in office. I left for work at +1ish and came back home between +5 and +7 and then got home around +10. When I got back midday, she had eaten some out of her feeder, but had also thrown up bile, meaning she went too long without food, ugh. I think she would be better about eating when she is in the greens as that is what I've observed when I'm home and during the night (when I leave out the feeder), but I want to make sure she's safe. It is a bit tricky. We shall keep experimenting here, I'll have some leeway in the short term (i think) to be at home a little more. I think I can get away with 5 hours in office (plus about an hour of commuting total in there). It will be a question of: can I do that and keep Bell safe? and can I do that and maintain my sanity? :p

Got her a vet appointment scheduled Thursday to take a look at her mouth.

I was using Bell as a scale to show how large this container of crushed red pepper is :D

Bounce break…tonight should be interesting. Sending early vetty vines, hope the appointment goes well. I wonder what Bell is thinking? Wow, dad, whatcha gonna do with all that crushed red pepper?!

Yeah I’m a little nervous that she’s going to continue to tank. I’m feeding her a bit every hour here and I’ll get a +2 to see where this is headed.

She was mostly excited to chew on the plastic :p

Thanks so much for looking out for her, Christie! I was looking at Mav’s spreadsheet the other day and noticed your note. Hope he is doing better. Good vines back at ya

Thank you, Seth :). I’m afraid we’re in a new phase of his journey, patterns no longer exist as they used to, and new things appear that need to be managed. Not many of us long haulers left, so I don’t have much to compare with, so we just keep carrying on. Now, Miss Bell, steady as you go, my shenanigan meter is keeping an eye on you.

I am experimenting a bit tonight. Her +2 was 60, which worries me a little due to the bounce break. I’ve never been able to get her to eat higher carb food before, but I’ve also not tried super hard or when she is in the low greens. Felt like a good time to try again. I mixed about a teaspoon of fancy feast grilled chicken feast in gravy (which carb calcs put at 14%) with her normal hourly 1/8 can of low carb pate.

And… she ate it! Goal would be to slightly curve this crash so that she doesn’t stay in the perpetual bounce, dip too low, bounce cycle.

Probably something I should have worked on long time ago but I never really liked the idea of higher carbs unless she is in danger. But I could see how they could be useful to prevent a bounce. Another tool in the kit.

Blending a little of the MC with LC is a good technique, I’ve done that too in the past with fast drops. Let’s see what that does for Bell, nothing wrong with a little experimenting, since you can see how it goes, and use that info to your advantage on those days when you aren’t home and need to leave some food for her. Maverick likes his FF chicken grilled gravy food too :p

Looks like that was a success. +3 is 60. At least leveled out the nosedive. Altho the drop may have been steep enough to cause a bounce, hoping at least to avoid the limes as those have been causing some yo-yoing

Good job experimenting, Seth. I hope you can keep Bell surfing as you’d like to with safety. :bighug::cat::bighug:
