So, a bounce for that dive to green last night but looks to be clearing nicely. Sticking with the no HC topping and working with the 50/50 mix of 6%/1% food. Will be around this weekend to steer if needed.

@Bobbie And Bubba, thanks for the check in this morning..your wish seems to Jones' command as he is clearing quickly!

Have some errands to run today (ugg) as I have a workout tomorrow again (read I will be whining the whole time that I am dying). Being off 5 months with no work outs is really not paying off at the moment!

Another clear wintery day today but it is warmer! We are -8C right now and going up to -6C. :D Can get out and get some sunshine without my eyes freezing up!

Does Jones go outside? Thinking about the exercise issue. Also, the good ol' QoL question. I've found that even just taking Quintus outside in my arms and putting him down on the ground, even if he doesn't move much, is good. He gets to smell stuff, hear stuff (not see as he's blind though). He's much more alert outside than inside.

I'm not sure there is much you can do to get his heart rate up. But if he comes back to his usual spot when you put him elsewhere, that's one way to get him to move. Of course you don't want to be bothering him all the time, so that's something to balance.

You mentioned the treadmill. Keep in mind that cats are sprinters, not long-distance runners. 5-10 minutes of continuous exercice is already a lot, specially for a senior cat. It's better to have 20 30-second walks, I think, than try to get a big workout out of him.

Does Jones go outside?

Generally not during the winter. We do have a cage attached to the house that they can go into. Last summer he was in it quite a bit. There is 4 semi easy jumps up to the top then they walk across to the man area.

He has never been playful really, unless it the pen you are trying to write with.;)

Crikey ! That is just so interesting to me.

Perhaps we should have an around the world global cat environment thread.

Note to Tracey: Do. Not . Work. Out. you will make me feel guilty for turning into a podge chops.
Husband on the other hand is training for a mud run.

Am I bonkers or does that look like a couple of good days really.

I did a mud run 2 years ago! Had a blast!

Yes the last few days have looked really good!

If Jones can’t faster than you could grab him then supervised walks like I do with Quintus could also work.
He tries every morning. As soon as I am ready to test he runs to the bedroom. At a really slow pace. My DH laughs at us. So yes we can let him out for suprevised walk abouts in the summer. Right now is a little chilly for the pampered kitties right now.

Take him out in your arms if he lets you. He might not get a workout but the cold might make his metabolism work out a little?
