punkin's parked in the entryway that's between the front door, kitchen, living room, hall to bedrooms and stairway to basement. in other words, the center of his universe! just in case any action is about to happen, he'll be ready!

i think this is a bounce again and i'm uncertain if it's ok to use R tonight to take the edge off of these high numbers. i know i'm not supposed to use it as a bounce is ending - but how do i know if it's about to end? sometimes his bounces are just a day and sometimes they last 3 days.

other than the high numbers, all is well in punkin's world.

I was afraid I would be making this decision tonight too. Weezer bounced around in pink most of the day after a blue PMPS last night. But come PMPS, she was blue. Maybe you should suggest that to Punkin. I see some blue stretches coming back in his SS. Nice!

I'd wait to hear from Sandy or Libby, or maybe PM them. I know it's hard sometimes to tell if and when a bounce is breaking, especially at PS time. If the numbers are going up fast, then that's one thing. It almost kind of sort of looks like Punkin is coming down from a bounce.

i took the netbook to him and showed him what you said. he didn't want to pay any attention at all! can you believe that? :lol: he informed me that he was napping right now. ;-)

Thats so funny "napping right now", yup, thats my Daphne. I was determined to stay awake and do my little experiment with her last night, since she did not want to particapate the night before, but no, she was sound asleep again, so I lost a few hours sleep, no big deal, as long as my princess had a good night :lol: :lol:

Sorry I have no advice, I'm so new here, I have to go look up "R" in the abbreviation page. :? Just don't tell anyone, I pretend I know what I'm doing here :lol:

See what happens between now and PMPS (what time is that for you?)
like Dyana said, he may be clearing.

Care must be taken to avoid getting stuck in the "R roller coaster" loop - high PS give R, see green, liver freak out, big bounce, more R to cover bounce, more liver freak out etc. etc.

I'm glad you strung a few R free cycles together at this dose. Let's you see what's going on sans R - short circuits roller coaster loop.
what are your thoughts on a lantus increase?

As if figuring out Lantus dosing and its ups and downs weren't enough, you have to mix it up with some R. There are times when I wish I needed to use it to bring Champ down, but most of the time I'm glad I dont have to try to learn one more thing!!!

I don't know enough about R to offer any advice. How much do you give him when you need to? I'm just curious.

I'm very glad to hear all is well in Punkin's world today.
 
i think that bounce is clearing! nice job on the crystal ball, dyana! no R tonight. I think we're increasing in the morning. appreciate the advice, sandy. seemed like we were narrowing in on the right dose for now so we'd slowed down on the L increases. this is the 5th dose on a fat 6.5u lantus. I'm also off on Fri-sat-sun so can be sure he's being monitored.

lydia, i've been giving him either .25uR or .5u R depending on how high he is at the time.

he's happily passed out on the carpet in front of me, stuffed full! :-D

Thank you for the info about R! I'm hoping that the pred and leukeran (chlormabucil) help Sid regulate so we don't have the steep dips and spikes like before, but I will ask the vet about giving him a small amount of R if he does go above 500. I know I have to be very careful and test him a lot - not saying I am going to give him R- just grasping at straws right now trying to think of ways to help him.
 
lydia, if you decide you want to try that on sid, let sandy, dyana or libby walk you through it and educate you about it. i think they have more experience than the rest of us on its use. it's a strong one and you want to be careful with it.
 
Julie - yes, thank you. I would be very careful. I'm not sure it's the best idea either. I just want to help him if I can. If the time comes, I will ask for help from them.
