Good day!

Morgaine has had a nice couple of cycles since I upped her. The LB is still challenging. Last night while I was showering, she got in the box and just sat there, relaxing in her box. I never saw her do this. I kept looking out at her and she just lounged in there until I got out of the shower and made her get out. Perhaps that is why she isn't going in it consistently. She likes to hang out in it??? Anyone have any experience with this? It seems so bizarro to me. She did actually pee in it first and then kicked back and relaxed in it, behind her pee. Otherwise she is fine. Her temp is normal at 100.8 and she is eating per usual, like a little piggy. Maybe she just likes the feel of the sandy litter. The pee pad in front of the box this AM was soaked but I do believe she was in there again....little paw prints give it away. I worry about her but honestly she does seems okay other than this behavior. The vocalizing she was doing is much less since we stopped the fluconozole.

Hoping all are having a good day! Healing vines going out to all in need today.

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142 ? about LB

Strange! Does Morgaine have neuropathy or arthritis? Any issues that might make it difficult to get in or out of the LB, or tire her so she wants to rest before trying to get out?

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142 ? about LB

This may sound weird. I wonder if she's experiencing a sensation like she needs to pee but actually knows she doesn't have to. It would be like us having urinary urgency but an empty bladder. Have you thought about trying Cosequin? It's a glucosamine/chondroiten capsule that you dump into food. It's often used for cystitis (in addition to arthritis) and can help with irritation of the bladder.

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142 ? about LB

She is on consequin and zobaline for cats for her neuropathy. It has been almost 3 months since I started her on both of those. She had just pee'd and then stayed in the box, not in a position to pee. She was just sitting in it like it was a comfy place to hang out. When I got out of the shower and moved the box to get her to leave she hopped right out fast and ran off to the living room. I did put the attract cat in there yesterday so maybe she likes the herb in that a little too much. I am just perplexed. There is some info online about cats who hang out in the LB. If it is behavioral she may be experiencing it as a safe place but why? I have never seen her do this before but maybe she has while I was sleeping. It is a huge box, very high on the sides with a low entrance.

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142 ? about LB

Morgaine sure is a unique kitty, isn't she? Bailey has hidden from me in the (covered) litterbox when she knew I was going to give her a pill, but I have never seen her lounge in one. Maybe it is the Cat Attract? One of my civvies, Harley, loved to dig in that stuff and play in it.

Morgaine is an only kitty, right? Do you guys just have one box? Just brainstorming here... :?

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142 ? about LB

One box, in a one bedroom apartment. I have no room for another box except in the living room and I won't do that to myself and my friends. Yes, she is an only kitty. I was thinking that maybe she was getting a little senile or something. But she seemed just fine after the fact. Her BG was fine and her appetite as well. She isn't urinating more than normal, just 3-4 times in a 24 hour period. She isn't showing any signs of UTI and temp is normal. I got one of those pet temp ear thermometers so i am thinking it is accurate.

She is a little odd and always has been. I have read that calicos are often quirky. Maybe that attract cat is just causing her to love her LB a little too much. Beats me too!

Re: 2/1 Morgaine AMPS 142,+6 135

I spent some time trying to cuddle with Morgaine on the bed. She was happy to join me since I brought some chicken treats but her interaction with me caused me some concern. Her back left paw was shaking, clearly neurological and she seemed so out of sorts. She didn't purr at all, let me rub her chin but she meowed when i touched her body. She is not grooming herself very well and she once again pee'd on the rug right next to the bathroom door where her box is. I have decided to take her to the vet and will call tomorrow to get her an appointment. Once again, Marje has graciously agreed to take us and I don't know how to thank her. So, rather than wait and watch this go on and on, I am going to do what I know must be done and get her in for an exam and some lab work. She does continue to eat as usual and her temp remains normal but my kitty's personality is changing before my eyes and her little meow cries when I pet her really concern me. Will keep you all posted.

hmmm rosalie, that does sound concerning. i mean her behavior tonight, not wanting to be touched and all. i'm glad you're
getting her in.

the litter box - i think i'd wonder about the Cat Attract. if it creates a happy zone, maybe she just likes to hang in the happy zone?!

I'm glad you got a vet appointment, that does sound concerning. I hope it is nothing too serious and you are able to get some answers tomorrow, please keep us posted!

No appt. yet. I have to see if they can take her tomorrow but hopefully Friday if not tomorrow. She pee'd again on the rug in the living room. She is just going anywhere now but again, not excessively. She is just not going to the box at all.

Rosalie, I know you're worried. It sounds like she just can't hold it and goes where she is at the time. I hope the Vet can see her today. Sending many helping vines to Morgaine and you.

Sending good vet visit vines. And also wise vet vines, one that knows the answer and helps her to pee appropriately, again.
Thanks for helping her get to the vet, Marge.

I hope the vet can find the source of Morgaine's problem. As concerning as it is that she isn't using her LB, her personality change and crying when touched really needs attention. I hope all goes well.
