103 this AM!
Sorry to sound silly but how does the level increase overnight if she’s asleep?

PM reading was 77… is this bad? this is the lowest she has been without insulin.

It’s not bad at all. It looks very much like she’s in remission!:D Normal BG is 50-80 mostly with occasional low 100’s.

oh my goodness! That’s crazy. How long do you need numbers in that range to be classified in remission?

I am a little concerned that since I took the dry food out maybe she won’t get as many calories daily since she’s just getting wet. I ordered the freeze dried treats but they don’t have much either. Should I give another can?

Yes. You can give her more wet to get her the required number of calories. How much does she weigh again?

Right now we are calling this a food trial. If it looks like she’s mostly 50-100 without insulin we will change it to an OTJ Trial. Fourteen days in that range and we consider her in remission.

Ok sounds good. I will re weigh her again tomorrow morning but last week as far as I recall was 13.6 I believe.

Is that a good weight for her? Can you feel her ribs slightly? Is she large for a female?

Yes, It seems to be a good weight for her. The most I recall her weighing was 15 several years back & she lost down to 10 when she diagnosed with hyperthyroid. I can feel ribs slightly but can’t see them. If I remember correctly the vet was happy with her weight also. She’s average size I would say. I think 15 was too much.

Unless large for a female 15 would be too much. My two girls are small and almost 9 pounds. I’m going to cut back a little on their food. My tortie was best at 10 1/2 pounds. Sounds like Chloe is right where she should be.

Torties are so special :)
This morning Chloe was able to jump up on the chair and sit on the arm with me for coffee. She hasn’t done that for a few months. She hasn’t been wanting to jump. I thought her legs were hurting but I guess she just had no energy or strength.

I can’t imagine what might have happened had you continued giving her 2.0 of lantus. I also can’t believe how many vets tell their clients to stop testing as it will stress out their cats.

I know. I do not want to think about those thoughts!
I hate that I put her through any of it as long as I did. I’ve apologized to her over and over.

Something just felt off with keeping her at 2units when her sugars were at the low 100 in December at her last curve with the vet. I didn’t understand, but I thought they knew right. They did save her life last year and I like her Dr a lot. I trusted him. I just wasn’t aware to check her sugar regularly :( I am so grateful to have found your group. Now You have saved her life and taught me so very much. :)

It’s good you trusted your intuition. We think the vets have all the knowledge and trust them. I’ve learned the hard way not to be so trusting and do my own research.
