Well, happy february, Lantus Land!

binks had a nice cycle yesterday evening, healing range all the way.
starting off this morning with 4 of 5 p's...

After long consideration, i went ahead with plans for a trial return to work for him today.
Not sure how much of his business life story i've shared previously...

In a household of flamboyant personalities, Binks was always the quiet guy...politely but adamantly reticent with outsiders. About 3 yrs ago, my best friend brought her younger brother to visit, a young fellow with Downes Syndrome. He was overly excited when he arrived, and the rest of my furkids fled the scene. Binks, however, sat and watched for a few minutes, then jumped up on the couch and delivered what we now call his "Signature Cuddle"...arms around the neck with his head firmly tucked under your chin...emitting a rumbling, calming purr. Worked like a charm.
He was the last kitty i would have expected to be a "minister"...but i decided to give it a whirl, and he was launched into his companion cat career.
He's visited cancer patients, special needs homes, and Alzeimer's havens.
It's been exactly one year since his last work outing, and after repeated requests, i've decided to take him on a trial visit to see his Auntie-bean and afterward a short visit to the Haven at her facility.

He knows what's up, as early this morning i brought out the harness that he only wears on work days...
he's laying on it by the front door as i type, purring to beat the band!

We'll see how it goes...and be back later on to share the results!

hope everyone is having a good start to their February!

Oh Binks. You are my hero.
I brought Butthead to my grandma's nursing home a few times, but he definitely did not make a career out of it. He was more interested in exploring places he wasn't supposed to go. He, too, gets excited when he sees his harness or carrier since it means he's going somewhere.

Awwww that made my day. I had no idea Binks was a therapy cat. How cool and special is that!? You have a big heart Celi and so does Binks.

WOW!, and that is so cool! I love it that he knows, and is waiting to go to work. Binks you are my hero too!

Have a great day guys! Sounds like it is off to a fantastic start! Awesome, so awesome. :-D :-D

Dear Mr. Hero Binksman, you are awesome. Going to strange places and meeting PEOPLE ! I would be so afraid, but you are so brave and good. You ARE a hero. -- Tess

Wow, lying on his harness by the door and purring? It sounds to me like he wants to go back to work and I think it'll go just fine. He's all excited! I find it so amazing when a cat likes to travel. Chaos is one of those who do not- it literally scares the crap outta him. Kudos to you and Binks the Hero Cat!! Great to hear about the healing range, too. And his signature cuddle- awwww! I want some of that!

Wow. Binks IS a true supahstar... no matter his numbers. What a wonderful gift he has... and how amazing of you to put it to such good use! Can't wait to here more about Binks' day job adventures!!

Have a great day!!!

Knowing you Celi & your loving kindness & good humor, I can totally see Binksy as Cat negotiator for noncat Beans who shower him with affection!!
This is a wonderful thing that you are doing--My DS was taking her drooler to my Stepmom's retirement home where he would also visit with the residents--
What a truly royal thing to do--Extra Hugs to you both today! Lubs you both!

Binksy you is a super star kitty..Wish I could do that, but I dont likes to go out--Have a good time & makes beans happy! Lubs, Moonie

This is such a wonderful thing, Celi. I know firsthand how people in nursing homes warm to cats; our Gus and Max were therapy cats at a local nursing home for the first ten years of their lives starting as 13 week old kittens...every Friday. Residents would not remember my name but they ALWAYS knew Gus and Max and if we had to miss a week, everyone worried about Gus and Max. We had to stop when Gus became hyperT and Max was diagnosed with PKD. Bless you for doing it....it means SO MUCH to people. And bless Binks for being the kind of cat who will do it because they are rare.

I think it is just awesome that Binks is a therapy cat and that he gets to go back to work. I bet the people he visits love him, Celi! I hope you and Binks have a wonderful day.

ps Put some pants on, girl. Its too cold to go get the mail in boxer shorts.

Binks is certainly a special kitty, just like my Spot. They know where the love is and they enjoy giving and receiving from those special people.
Hope his, and your day went well.

Celi, I didn't know Binks was a therapy cat. Ya know the part I liked?
Picturing him putting his arms around your friend's son's neck and purring, gave me a lump in my throat and brought a tear to my eye.

Hi Celi,

That is awesome that Binks is a therapy kitty! And that is so cute. I can just picture him laying on the harness by the door. cat_pet_icon
