Loving her SS recently, especially the drop dose, go Girlie! :woot:

I saw Girlie liked the new vet, that is huge! I hope it can work out until your fave vet returns at least. What did he say about a one drop dose? Did his eyes pop out? ;)

@Stacy & Asia , none of the vets I've seen so far seem to have even heard of a drop of insulin. They don't really do micro-dosing - I'd assume because they don't know how, to be honest. He knows Jacqui Rand (I suppose it's a small specialist vet world here in Oz), though. Because of not having access to the insulin ruler or using calipers - or perhaps, knowing that many people wouldn't do that - they go for a one low dose a day when cats get like Girlie - or they up the carbs so a higher dose can be given. Anyway!

Although Girlie liked him and he's a good vet, he didn't say anything new or different from the vet closer to me. He also thought I should board Girlie with them (if I can't get a vet tech/nurse as a pet sitter) rather than with his practice as they can't monitor Girlie overnight. So the quest continues.

Keep looking! I just found one last weekend (pet sitter). She administers insulin can and will test. She has 300 hours of vet internship and will stay at the house for extended vacations if necessary. She was suppose to come to the house to meet Gizmo this week but the weather but a kink in that. Going to try and set it up sometime next week. I am thrilled!

Oh, and she lives in my subdivision!!!

Is there a vacation in the future for Lizzie & DH???

Well that’s pretty cool, does Jacqui Rand practice near you?

Girlie’s SS is looking so good!!! How is she feeling and how are you feeling? :bighug:

Jacqui's in a different state, unfortunately!
Girlie's doing well, although we're still having poo issues - I doubt we'll ever conquer those. She had an enema today as it was day 6 with no poo, but not that much resulted - and still too soft even though I haven't given her any Miralax for six days...sigh... I'm looking forward to getting the Zobaline and trying that out.

I'm okay - lots of medical tests. Still, it will be good to get the results and then take appropriate action. I'm sure I'll end up healthier because of it!

How are you and dear Asia?

Girlie #s are looking awesome on a drop! :D

I know, it's amazing! I wonder how long this will last...fingers crossed. Although the vets are iffy about giving her a drop (as they're not sure how to do it). I find it the easiest dose of all to measure, really.

How absolutely fabulous! How did you find her? WOW - she sounds perfect! Does this mean you are going to go on a holiday?

Someone recommended her on the neighborhood app as a dog walker. I have sent an email or text to every single post of pet sitters asking about shooting and testing. She is the first that responded that she, in fact, did!! I have probably screened 20 or so people.

As for holiday - not sure. Of course it hasn't even been on the radar because I couldn't even think about leaving. Boarding him is completely out of the question with his adverse reaction to the vet I know it would be a disaster. But a day trip is NOT out of the question or even a fishing trip now that we wouldn't have to be home by 4pm to TFS (which is almost impossible because the bay is about 2 hours away).

This was her exact response to my email
Yes, in my internship at the vet clinic I give insulin injections and do blood glucose testing. I normally test on the back of the ear and inject behind the neck but if you have found other locations work better for your cat I can accommodate.

I have over 300 internship hours at the vet clinic and have taken 10 animal science classes. I also work part-time as a zookeeper and I'm a college student at XXXX majoring in Business. I'm feline and canine CPR certified and I have my Purina Pet Nutrition certification.
