Given that he was rising by PS, it would have been ok to go with the dosecrease, if he'd been flat blue at amps, I might have hesitated and held the dose.

With his +2 being so similar to his amps, you may have an active cycle this morning, but if he doesn't make it to green, I think going with the dosecrease this pm is a good plan.

Hear that Man? Dosecrease threat on the table;)

+5=245, so looks like a dosecrease tonight! I stopped at the pharmacy today to get a new vial, and they gently reminded me that the insulin is only effective for 28 days. I've been using the original vial since August 1st, I told them it's been stored in the fridge, and I don't see any particles or discolouration. I can't imagine that he could get into blues if the insulin isn't working, but I suppose it could be losing potency? It sure still smells stinky like normal

I think it's good to be on the alert when you first use a new vial/pen just in case it has more oomph--but it probably won't. I wouldn't do an increase and a new container of insulin on the same cycle, but I mean that just as an observation not as advice. And he's still got a while to respond to the dosecrease threat!

I agree, I think one change at a time, otherwise I won't know for sure what variable caused the potential effect! Now to decide which one first :bookworm:

Most people say you can use a vial for up to 6 months. When Furball first started insulin I got a vial and used it for almost one year without any problems. As Gill said, the 28 days is for people who don't refrigerate it. As long as you take care of your insulin, it can last a long time.
