I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, we had a busy day.

Mo seems more comfortable, he even went outside this evening of his own accord! He had a quick wander around the garden and then came back inside for a snooze. He also purred for a long time this morning which was nice.

I am slightly concerned because he's becoming less and less interested in food. He used to eat everything in one go. Now he grazes and rarely finishes what's in his bowl. He finished everything this morning at breakfast and this evening at dinner. Maybe he feels sick and doesn't want to eat or maybe he's full? I don't know. When he came home from the hospital he was eating everything I put down in front of him. He seems well hydrated and I guess at the moment he is eating...enough. It's just not like him to turn down food. I'll keep an eye on him. Hopefully this passes.

Hugs to you and Mo :bighug: Perhaps it's his pancreatitis or maybe you could grab a ketone test since he's in high numbers? Sorry I'm not much help :bighug:Hope he gets back to his old self :cat:

I believe you were given pain meds and nausea meds but were you given any appetite stimulation meds for Mo? Inappetence is a symptom of pancreatitis, and symptoms can wax and wane.. I needed a combination of both appy stim and nausea meds to keep butters eating sometimes when she flared, but sometimes she would eat without it or with just the tiniest sliver of it.
Cyproheptadine is a really good appy stim med.

How are his bowel movements lately? No possible constipation? That can make them less hungry.
You also switched him to ziwipeak full-time recently, right? Any chance he is not as enthused about that food?

I agree with Suzanne as a precaution, given the appt is a bit off, and likely he's not enough insulin, and the pancreatitis, it would be a good idea to check in those ketones.
Tbh I'd be thinking of doing that daily.

I am no expert, but when Phoenix had pancreatititis, he had to stay on appetite stimulants for several weeks. I really think you should ask your vet for some. The vet may have given him a shot that stimulated his appetite and now it is wearing off. Please keep him eating.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I posted this message just before I went to sleep. I'm terrible at staying up late while I'm on my annual leave :p

Mo wasn't interested in food around 1am when I was trying to encourage him but when I got up this morning, all his food had gone and he has eaten pretty much everything else we put in front of him so far today, so that's really encouraging :) He's been purring as well, yay! I think I agree with the suggestion to get an appetite stimulant from the vet. I will discuss this at our appointment in 2 days time. Lyla is right and he's not been such a fan of the ziwipeak so I've tried mixing it with the fancy feast and he happily ate that. I'm thinking about introducing feline naturals instead of the ziwipeak as he may be more enthused by that.

We have stuck with giving bupe 3x/day lately and the gaba twice a day. He's also getting cerenia once a day. So far, this seems to be working well for him.

Regarding the ketone testing, I got it wrong last time and I'm terrified that I'll read the stick wrong again. I'm thinking it might just be better to look into a blood one. I'll do some research into now anyway.

In terms of insulin, I will be calling the specialists office to see if the Levemir has arrived today. We should have it within the next couple of days, yay!!!!

On another note, we now have COVID cases in the community with no idea yet where they have come from so we have moved up alert levels today. Auckland is in level 3 which means they are in lockdown and the rest of the country (I am in Wellington) is in level 2. This just means we have to practice social distancing again and wear masks on public transport. Stores are still open and gatherings are kept to 100 people. Hopefully they find the source. I certainly trust our government here in New Zealand :)

That's good to know thank you! I will be asking for some at the vet on Wednesday :)

He has been doing regular bowel movements, so constipation isn't a problem. The softer and smellier poos come and go. It's quite the poo rollercoaster o_O

Katy, I heard about NZ's lockdown. Your country has handled the pandemic exceptionally well. Stay safe and I hope Mo continues chowing down and getting on the mend.
Thank you, Katherine!

Well, Mo certainly enjoyed Feline Natural food! I gave him half a can of the chicken and venison and he gobbled it up. I will give him the other half I think. They don't have as many calories as the Ziwipeak or Fancy Feast but as long as he's eating, I'm happy!

We are starting to see glimpses of the old Mo. Tonight he decided he wanted to sit outside on the porch and watch the rain, but every few minutes come back inside and eat something then go back out again. It was amusing to watch! He also managed to fit a wash in as well. He's had quite the busy evening!

He's much more into grazing than eating everything in one go these days, which is probably a good thing and easier on his tummy.

Time for bed soon. I'll give Mo his last bupe dose for the evening and some food for him to have overnight.

Fingers crossed we get the call tomorrow that the Levemir has arrived...

Hope everyone has a wonderful day/evening!

Butters was never terribly enthused about Ziwipeak canned but went absolutely bananas for Feline Natural canned. I'm so glad Mo seems to be enjoying that and is eating well.
Paws crossed that the Levemir has arrived.
