Today is the 13th anniversary of me catching Beau in the woods in northern MI.

Here is a photo of the day after and then a couple of weeks later:

He was about 14 months old, un-neutered, and very light colored.

Here he is 3 years and 6 years later:

Darker after being neutered.

And one of my favorites of him chasing his tail on the window sill. Usually he grabbed it between his legs and did a somersault. Silly boy!

Beau's cute face:

Happy Gotcha Day Beau! Boy you picked a good mommy when you let your mom think she caught you. ;-)

I should add that he first appeared on Weds, all skinny and scared (ran from me). He was sleeping outside in the rain on Thursday and it snowed overnight that night. I put food out and was able to touch his bony back early on Friday (and got scratched for it). I had that one day to search for a possible owner in the resort area nearby and by calling the local vets and animal control. No one had reported him missing or knew where he lived. That was why I decided to catch him. At 4:30 I called the nearest vet, who closed for the weekend at 5pm, and asked him to stay open for me if I could catch him and get him there to be tested for FIV/FeLV. I caught him at 4:45 and got him to the vet at 5:05. He was-/-.

I was supposed to head home the next day and then be at work on Monday after one day home, but I got Monday off and went home Sunday. Who catches a feral, keeps him in a separate room for one night and then lets him out with her other cats the next day? That photo of him the next day he is sleeping on my bed. I'm not sure what possessed me to catch him and bring him to my apartment in Chicago - and then leave all three cats out together and go to work for 10 hrs on the fourth day. It all worked out though.

Those pictures are so cool Sheila. I love all of them, but the upside down, with his legs over his head....truly a keeper. And him chasing his own tail...so funny. I love when cats do that.

Beau is such a beautiful kitty. And you know, he was meant to be with you. :)

Happy belated Gotcha Day! I love the somersault picture - so funny! The colors of his fur over the years is really cool to see. Give Beau some chin scritches from us.
