I've looked at your spreadsheet and from my point of view (inexperienced ) you only restarted the 0.25 insulin last night and there was a reduction at AMPS this morning so it did have some effect. As I mentioned yesterday it takes a few cycles to see a dose's full effect and so I think you will a continued drop from the 0.25 today , tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully :)

That echoes actually what Ruth and Chris wrote:

Hi Mrs Hott,

There is quite a lot of day to day variability of results from home blood glucose monitoring. We don’t have a thorough understanding of why but there probably in a component variable insulin sensitivities from day to day and the fact we all experience minor inflammation or different hormone release depending on our daily experiences. The absorption of insulin is also likely to vary. So, I don’t tend to get too focused to a particular number apart from too low because of its risk to health. We tend to focus on good but safe control.

So, it would appear that if he starts to eat normally, we would recommend the following insulin doseages:

<7mmol/l – no insulin
7 - <10mmol/l – 0.5 unit
10 - <15mmol/l – 0.75 unit
15 or more than 15 mmol/l – one unit.

With regard to his food, I am very happy to trial Sheeba flakes or the Purina DM, but remember there is definitely day to day variability of results so it is the trend we are looking for.

You have done a really great job over the past few days, and I’m sure Pedro has been the better managed for it although you must be shattered. Well done and keep us informed as you have been doing.

Best wishes,

Chris and Ruth

Hi Mue @KleineMue ,

Just wondering how you and Pedro are doing?
Looked at your spreadsheet just now and saw some truly terrifying low numbers for the 28th Feb (I'm assuming those are Alphatrak numbers also?) That must have given you a heck of a fright...

How is Pedro now?
And have you now raised your 'no shoot' number above 7 (126)? (That would be around 6 (108) on a human meter).

Hoping all is OK.

Hugs,

Eliz
