If I order coffee and drink quickly I can still be home by +4…

when last seen he’d decided to go with “bounce” vs “dive”
some nice 3hr blocks of sleep but I hate it was at his expense. This am the bounce continued and was joined by ketones :(. He also got sub q LR this am (he’s not a fan) so I tried to get back in his good graces with a comfort sachet (20% prot, 80% fat and he would kill for them)…highly recommend. Anyway he was still grumpy when I decided I could leave the house (second time since August that wasn’t taking him or Tammuz to the vet, first time was a quick run to the market yesterday). Today I had breakfast out. Ate quickly but still :)

Back in time to test +5 and feed lunch but I think he’s still not forgiven me. He just now walked into the library and glanced at his box, then jumped up next to me….and passed a huge amount of gas

edit: as for dive…he may be keeping that option for tonight :nailbiting:p

Hi Colleen, so sorry you have to give fluids as an additional treatment step. He doesn't like it but I am sure, it will make him feel much better and I am sure he forgives you fast. Passing gas next to you might only mean, that he feels safe and comfortable with you. :cat: So happy, you left the house. We have to sometimes. For our own sanity. Seems he comes down gently today. Nice to see that. I hope tonight he stays in good but safe numbers and you can get some sleep. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I only see normal ketones on your spreadsheet today. 0.4 is a little higher than 0.2 yesterday, but still in normal range.

Good to hear you got out today. Learning Neko's BG patterns made a world of difference to my social (and getting out) life. Even if it was just a quick two hour walk in the woods or lunch out, it was great for stress relief.

Well with variation they can all be the same number but still, I’d prefer 0.2. They may be by tonight. Unfortunately I’d REALLY like to drive to the closest big town where there’s a Costco and World Market and Petco but that means leaving him at +6-+8 and even if bouncing idk I can trust him not to decide to drop. But I may try next week. If I just go to 1or 2 of those stores it means 90-120 minutes of him alone but maybe…

Don't they deliver at home? I get both, supermarket stuff for me and food for Binie delivered. So if you go out, you can do something nice instead. Like eating tacos. :)

If you get a cycle like last night where he zooms up so much by +2 - get out your car and drive to that next town.

No such luck. Besides +2 is rush hour. Even in the wine country one does not voluntarily get on a California
    freeway during rush hour :)
Some places do but this is an odd place—to get to the north part of our county —the rural area I live—from the beach area (land of Costco etc) one must come up the Cuesta grade (funny bc Cuesta is Spanish for grade)—there are people who refuse to drive the grade which is ridiculous but very common. It’s like we’re on mars. The road is a bit steep and a bit winding but people bike it (well crazy people bike it). So some delivery drivers etc will refuse or call to ask how much more you will pay, and instacart can take a while unless there’s a big tip. Which I paid today deciding I’d get Costco delivered since World Market doesn’t and I don’t like using it for PetSmart. I get my groceries delivered but sometimes they’ve delivered outdated food and torn open litter so those things come from Chewy’s or PetSmart online. But I can’t buy single cans of food and I want to try to find some medium carb food without weird ingredients that he might eat.
Always something eh? So my next bounce I will try to get to PetSmart, and the one after that to world market (I like their spices and tbh, just wandering around). All these things I thought I’d do once I retired  But it’s better I’m stuck at home for a long long time God willing

Because I can’t talk about the grade without adding my favorite signs on it

I know what you mean, Colleen. I never loved going to the grocery store before.
    Now it’s my weekly outing.
I’ve become that little old lady who goes to the grocery store and comes back.
It’s only about a five minute drive and I look forward to my hour or so out each week.
I’m rushing around the store trying to get everything I need for the week. It’s just nice not to look at the walls of my house as it starts to feel confining after an entire week.
I don’t really go anywhere else and I found a way to work from home and I do feel very lucky I can do that so I can take care of Ivy. But, as you know, it does feel confining.
And like you, I hope to be able to continue doing what I’m doing for a very long time taking care of Ivy

So, if you can get out and have another delicious breakfast somewhere yummy or lunch or dinner do it. And get the groceries delivered.
We do what we can and we don’t do what we can’t do, and that’s just the way it is. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Now, in the 18th hour I’ve been awake, now, NOW you decide to drop 30 points into blue?

This cannot be the way this is supposed to work

When Neko was on Lantus, I developed the habit of an afternoon nap. Yesterday, once you saw he was heading up at +8, you could have rested until PS. If he's flat or up at +6, to to sleep.

I slept between almost every test yesterday. Lately most days. I’m not refreshed by naps. I really need 6 preferably 8 solid uninterrupted hours. Residency was a living nightmare but I was 40 years younger. I was feeding him at 830 pm then leaving out food but now that he drops past +6 I’m afraid to not get a later test and don’t trust him to eat without me making him (he slept his way to 75 more than once)…and I don’t wake easily so can’t nap when he dropping because alarm may not wake me. I just hope it gets better before it kills me

Hi Colleen, sounds like you live inbetween beautiful nature but with a lack of infrastructure. A bit like where I live. :) But delivery services are better and friendly here. If it comes to pet food I also like to make occasional trips to the store because I want to buy single cans to see what the queen likes. Very often, if I buy it then on bulk online, she changes her mind. If you look into my cupboard you would think, I run a pet sanctuary because there are so many cans.

The world market sounds like something I would like too. I can imagine you had other plans for your retirement. Same for me. And at the same time I also pray, that I can do what I do for Binie for a long time. I hope we all get a bit more balance over time. I really hope you can leave the house more often without worries. For fish tacos, walks on the spice market and whatever you like. And I hope you get more sleep at night witout worries. Maybe that is still possible for our kittys and us. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

And I love the street sign! The little bears are so cute... you just don't want to meet them...
