Normally when you see the +2 number about the same as the PS number or lower it means the cycle will be active. That means the numbers will probably go down during the cycle. You may need to test more during this cycle to make sure he doesn't go too low. You may want to get a +3 test to see how much lower he is. That will give you an idea of how much more you may need to test tonight. He is looking good.

But he just ate again! He saw the other cat eating and he gobbled up some too. I am outside buying their food now. Hopefully he’s ok. Will test at +4.

@Bellasmom @carfurby yes, he dropped at +4. I’ll take at +6 next. I need to do sub-cut. Yesterday, sub-cut didn’t make any difference to the reading. Should be safe if I do at +5? Your thoughts.
 
As long as you are testing at +6, I think you can do the sub-cut at +5. That way you can see if it affects his numbers.

Ya that’s what I was thinking. Can I go to bed after that? I’m pretty beat today cos I was up last nite tending to the other cat. U think he’s safe?
 
As long at the +6 is not a lot lower than the +5 you should be able to go to sleep. He's coming down slowly tonight.

+6 is the same as +4. I’m going to bed then. Thanks for helping me out here. Appreciate it. Would it be safe if I do +3, +6 for tmr amps?
 
I don't know what your schedule is and if you can test during the day. That will make a difference. Most people try to get a +2 because it gives them an idea of whether the cycle will be active or not, like tonight. The +2 will give you an idea of whether you can wait until +6 to test again or you need to test more often. There is not an easy answer and it may not be the same every day. Since you are just starting out on Lantus, it may be a good idea to get tests at different times to fill in the gaps on the SS. This will help you learn patterns.

So if +2 is higher than pre shot, then can wait till +6? If +2 is lower than ps, then test more often? I have a few appointments tmr that’s the problem.
