Good morning here All,
Well nothing like the threat of a trip to the vet to bring Gus around..
("Gus" used in honor of my mothers use of 'Leslie' as opposed to 'Les' when my behavior exasperated her)
AMBG 66:D! And that was retested on both ears!
So whatever is bothering him is definitely Not raising his BG..
He has been zooming around and jumping onto the dresser this morning, go figure..?
He is eating his raw food merrily..I have zero clue what his deal is but I am grateful..must have been the powerful vines from you all purrito-ing him in healing thoughts...thank you!!!
(Shhhhh.....Don't tell him tho but he is still going to the vet this afternoon!)
Not a member of the CPC but did eat, a much better situation than yesterday's PM cycle, and he is stretched out not hunched now digesting...
Thank you all again for those vines:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sending vines and hugs to wrap gently around our family here, surf safely kitties no matter your choice of colors today, with this dance the waltz can change to a two step in a heartbeat..let's have sweet smooth transitions in choreography as the holiday stressors hit...:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Hugs to those struggling to keep up with their Kitties and this dance and those still adjusting to an off kilter world:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Vetty vines to all headed for help and answers:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hope the Vet visit finds what is bothering Gus:bighug:
Have a nice day Les:)
You said it well about this FD and us having to adjust to an off kilter world. I might add a sleepless one:eek:

Thank you Elise:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:always nice to see you:bighug:
Hope your heart is feeling a wee bit better, another first rolling around, you are in my thoughts and heart:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks. Not really. Went looking to find out how to get healthy kittens when I'm ready. Not ready at all.

Les...a huge whew and woo hoo for you and Gus! (And Gus: au contraire; your morning exuberations do not exempt you from vetty visit today!)

Have good day, Les, a good vetty visit, and hope you're breathing easier knowing that Gus is back in bring it on mode! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nice try, Gus, but you're still going to the vet!

I'm so happy and relieved to read this. You know, upon further consideration, I'm wondering if he just had a nasty attack of gas? Don't laugh. Harvey used to get those, and he was miserable until it resolved. Just a thought.

Whatever it is, I hope it's really gone and he gets a clean bill of health from the vet. Sending vetty vines.

Thank you! Maybe? He's eating just fine right now, his raw...sheesh maybe I will take one of the other two instead! I need him to get the post OTJ once over so we are headed there this afternoon..I feel much better about the late afternoon appointment having stopped in and fed him a snack that he ate. Figuring he knows, because cats are psychic, that I have two cases of FF food coming so he's decided to eat his raw

If humans can toot why not cats?! Interesting that one of the side effects listed of Sootie's omezaprole is, quoting exactly: "excessive wind."

Years ago when I worked for a local vet, one of the techs boarded two kittens from the orphanage whom he'd adopted. Left specific instructions about food to feed and not to feed (noting only 'gastric effects') We discovered why when one morning one of kennel staff fed them the wrong food: talk about "excessive wind" and stinky too! They were fine by the next meal (and the right food for them!).

Awww :bighug::bighug::bighug: I totally get that...
You will know when you are ready and Max will send the right companion your way, in just the right timeframe...when it's meant to be...:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Apparently the feral kittens from the trap and release colonies around here have the strongest constitution! They can be fed nothing but crap food and still check out healthy as horses..I know folks with a kittens they've had from those litters..I'm thinking it's something genetic where only the absolute strongest constitution survives :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:so that gets passed down...
Sending hugs Elise:bighug::bighug:
Piling on good vetty vines from me too. :bighug::bighug: Nothing like a good poo to make them feel better too.
thanks Wendy:bighug:.:bighug:should be one in the works so to speak given his miralax intake. ;)

But of course. That's in the cat manual!
Haha is t that so true?!:cat: Because they can :cat:

yikes! He's still very sniffly and his face looks a bit pinched is the best way I can describe it so I know something is still not quite peachy keen with him. But I'm happy he ate a snack and breakfast..scared to find out how much his weight has dropped..

Hoping a good dose of antibiotics will do the trick and he will loose the snuffles and feel better..but im thinking if it was just an infection he would have higher BG??

Good luck at vetty! No foolin' around Gussie!

Don't know answer to your question about elevated Bg in relation to infections (and/or other stressors); other folks more experienced than I have explained the why's of it and in ways that make sense, too, and in ways that I can grasp even if I can't articulate it!
My hunch, too, for what it's worth, might add ECID..,maybe some cats' systems react more extremely in the glucose response than others?

I'm sorry he's still got the sniffles....stuffy nose too?

getting ready to get packed up and headed out to the vet.. will be traffic even tho yay now that he's moved back into closer proximity I can just take surface streets to get there!! I went yesterday and scoped out where he is so that I don't have to be yelling in the car about being lost or missing the place with Gussie hearing it! Im not a quiet peaceful driver when I don't have students or passengers in my car.. probably why my BP is ok so far..:p Will let you know what we find out... paws and fingers and feet crossed, eyes not so much need them to drive..thank all for keeping us in your vines
BBL

ETA this is our first in person visit since I went rogue with his FD treatment and chose to follow the protocol and wing it with advice here... :rolleyes:should be interesting... especially since Gussie has been OTJ now since the start of the trial...:nailbiting::D

Think Gussie has master taxing on grass airfield (gree) without flipping over or overshoot the runway
and get into the water (blue). That's good pilot skill, long live to his new flying career !

No water landing Gussie ! Tree top level flying only ! No problem buzzing the tower !
.

Well I hedged my bets by sending them an email update a couple of days ago with the link to his spreadsheet, the protocol PDF and an update on his insulin status!
I asked my vet about the email and he said he had seen his spreadsheet. He thought it was great he was off insulin, we didn't really discuss his feelings on my method! We were both happy with the end result!
He did not feel any constipation blockages, nor any thickening of the intestines on manual exam, lungs sound fine, heart fine. We are both worried it's his kidneys or a bout of P-titis happening. He is doing comprehensive blood work ( as opposed to in house) that will give a numerical value rather than a general indication of if pancreatitis is happening. He gave him some fluids, he was a bit dehydrated. And gave him some cerenia. He sent me home with a box of that. He wanted to wait on pain meds (Bupe) until we see what organ systems we are developing a treatment plan for..labs should be back tomorrow and urinalysis. Temp was normal.
So really we are in a wait and see till we hear back on the blood work. He turned his nose up at the raw again tonite and I did manage to get him to eat a bit of the FF chicken classics. Not the half can I'd like in this sitting, but we will keep at it as the nite progresses. He will probably be hungry @+2..shoot forgot to test! Better go grab his number..

Dang, 127:confused:
Hoping it's just because of the vet visit, car ride, and the food onboard. I don't even want to enter that number:(:arghh:
Shoot
:(
I'll poke him again later on and hopefully his numbers will be back where they belong for an OTJ cat.:(:(

Wow what a visit and I hope you're feeling some relieved..and everyone settling in after quite an adventure. Vines for b/w results and that you all get a good night's sleep. And of course, ya all gotta eat...(mama beans, too)

Dear friend Gussie,
Heard you had a good vetty visit. Must have been fun riding in car with your bean! I hear you just started cerenia, it's cool stuff. I think it's helped me a lot lately. Hang in there so that when I'm in greens, like you, we can hang ten together one of these days!
Yours in sunbeams, east coast and west coast,
Sootie

Now, Leslie, you know Gussie marches to his own drummer. Remember all the blue preshots, followed by green mid-cycle tests? No need to stress it (easy for me to say)! :bighug:

I'm glad the vet didn't find anything serious in his exam. Sending tons of vines for good b/w results.

It really sounds like possible pancreatitis to me. If so I hope it passes quickly. Did he suggest cerenia or ondansetron in case of nausea? Vines that the good exam is completed with good blood results too.

thats my suspicion too..Buster had it and they symptoms liook familiar, but then again they mimic Busters with renal failure too..
He did administer some Cerenia via injection and gave me a box of it with directions to administer it 1/4 tab once daily. We will discuss pain meds tomorrow when the labs come back, we talked about Bupe. Did not mention Ondansetron but I can def ask about it when I talk to him tomorrow. Thanks for all the heads up..I've never even heard of these things, was given metacam in the past. Which worked like a miracle so bummer it's so toxic. I also have a traumeel homeoprep the doc gave me do will continue with that as well. He seems more comfortable so guessing the fluids and cerenia are helping. Interestingly the vet said the cerenia will help with the snuffles and congestion?
Hugs Elise:bighug::bighug::bighug:always happy to hear from you:bighug::bighug:

thanks Tricia and thanks Amber
I suspect Elise is right about his pancreas..he's also checking kidneys and liver, given the workout they've al, had I'm not surprised they may be feeling a bit put out!;)
I'm trying to think positive on this..
Big sigh of relief, haha you were right Tricia!
PMBG 127  vetty visit, car ride and FF Chicken classic feast influenced
+2 63:D, no wonder he was nosing around the leftovers..
Thanks again all for the vines, truly believe they helped him..:bighug::bighug:

Thanks Sina! Tell Sootie it's a date!

I'm glad his numbers came down and he's nosing at leftovers. My civie once tested over 200 at the vet's office and 53 the next day at home. Paws crossed for good b/w results.
Thanks Wendy! :bighug::bighug:Me too! Yikes that's a big spread in numbers you had! I'm keeping my brain waves calm as I can, not sure which I'm hoping for over the others..so trying to just be grateful he's comfortable and leave tomorrows worries till I get the call on the results..he's snoozing now.
I may stay here for the holiday, normally I go home to family. If so I'm hoping to get some quilting done, it feels like forever since I've had the cutter/rulers out and heard the whirrr of the machine...I miss it.
Hoping the weather warms up for you, keeping gentle hugs headed your way:bighug::bighug:
