Dang! Look at those kitties!!
I'm updating Lucian's curve in the post, not the subject line, in case you want to keep up with him. He just got a 150something @+4, don't know where that came from!
Still snowing huh? :YMSIGH:
Do ya'll ever loose power? Do you have preparations in case of that? Kerosene heater or something? You prepared like a good little Girl Scout?
We don't get snow too often and when we do it's rarely more than a couple inches. But we will get ice storms and loose power every few years. Back in 2003 I think, I lost power for 5 days and was all electric. Had it not been for the emergency kerosene heater I had bought 5 years prior, after another storm that knocked out power for 26 hrs at 27 degrees on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we would have been in a world of hurt! It had not even been out of the box until we got the bad storm, 5 yrs later. Better to be prepared. :thumbup
The prior Mother's Day, I bought myself a really nice gas grill with an 11,000 BTU side burner. House was toasty and I cooked outside. It wasn't that cold after the first day, everything melted, but it took them 5 days to get all the power lines back up. We were in a very rural area.
I cooked for all my neighbors, who were living off cold food, sandwiches and such. There were 3 other families there besides us. At one point I had a big pot of Butter Beans and Ham on the burner and corn muffins in the grill, w/ the lid closed as an oven. We did fine and the neighbors were grateful for hot meals during that period. We pooled our resources, everyone pitched in meat and stuff. We figured we needed to cook it up, had no idea when the power would be restored. Every day I was out there making beef stew, homemade soup, muffins/cornbread, biscuits. Same thing after Hurricane Floyd. We had no power for 11 days that time.
Always nice when the neighbors come together in tough times. :thumbup
